Incredible! One of our favorite dispersed camping spots yet. Couldn’t believe how close it was to the south rim entrance. Nice to be able to check Google Maps to see if there’s traffic, and can just wait at the site for it to die down. Mornings before 9 and after 3:30 or so seemed best to enter the park.

The forest road was very well maintained. Didn’t go farther than a mile or 2, so can’t vouch for it all.

Not very good T-Mobile service, despite my phone reading 5g the whole time. Ended up using Starlink for work which worked well.

Water and dumps were hard to find. There’s a nearby RV park that offers flush and fill. Dump station also near Mather campground in the park.

The first quarter mile of this road is closed to camping. But if you continue down the road, as soon as you pass the closed road for Grand Canyon Trail Rides, you will find plenty of open flat areas with fire rings. Someone even left us a fire ring laid out with wood and kindling for our evening fire!❤️ Mature ponderosa pine forest, with some deadfall, but you probably need to bring your own logs. Excellent T-Mobile coverage.

A really convenient spot for those looking to tent, car camp or pull up in a RV. About a 10 minute drive until the Grand Canyon. Private sections with already established fire pits but other people near by so didn’t feel isolated! Great find.

There were a lot of spots along this road, it was perfect! Lots of fire rings already built and the road is easy to drive on. It is semi close to the main road that leads to the park so sometimes you can hear that traffic. It is also close to the airport and the planes are up and going around 8:30am- we didn’t mind either of those though! Great place to camp the night before going into the park!

We had a nice night there. There are a few spots along the service road. A lot of dust there.

If you stay here on the weekends and plan to go to the park, get up early. The lines are insane!

There's plenty of spots, we never ran into not finding a spot and we got in pretty late.

A bucketload of spots available, with many having campfire rings! I cannot seeing this place filling up even during peak season.

Great spots. Long road with lots of pull offs. I doubt you would have any issues ever finding a spot here no matter how busy it gets. Closest free camping to the entrance of the grand canyon

Super location just a 12 minute drive from the canyon itself. We arrived shortly after sunset and could see a couple of others were staying. Headed off before sunrise so didn't get to enjoy the surroundings.

It was fairly busy with people coming in and out. Perfect for our night there. There were even some fire pits available.

We camped here for 2 nights while visiting the Grand Canyon. Quiet spots tucked a little ways off the highway. We didn’t have any trouble finding a campsite as there are numerous around. Definitely worth saving on the list!

There is also an RV campground in town, a mile or so down the road, where you can fill up water if you run out!

Turn left onto Forest Road 328 as you’re headed toward the south rim entrance and drive down a bumpy dirt road about 1/4 mile, cross over the cattle guard and then you’ll find tons of established sites many with rings and fire pits. We stayed five nights at the first ringed site on the right. So easy to park our converted ambulance and motorcycle into the park each day. A little dusty and we often had folks show up to share our area after dark because we were so close to the road but sites go back for miles if you want more privacy. From the turn off to the entrance station is 0.7 miles so if you don’t get going before 9:30 or after 4 you may have a hard time turning into the park because the line will go past the road. No amenities but just a fantastic location for exploring GCNP.

Nice little tuck away. Definitely a bumpy road finding a good spot. Most spots I saw had fire pits. Only a few cars went through until about 9pm. Was a wonderful location overall. You can’t beat it for free!

Amazing sites with beautiful views and the ability to be secluded if you choose to do so (4x4 recommended for these areas).

The campsite itself was amazing! We did end up having to move locations due to a grizzly being in our area. The stars were unreal and we were able to see the starlink satellites. There were a few other campers around which made us feel safer as we were scared of the grizzly lol. There is definitely A LOT of wildlife in the area as we heard mountain lions and coyotes. We lived the convenience of this camp site because Grand Canyon is literally right next to it. I highly recommend this area!

There were so many options for campsites here it was incredible. It was so close to the Grand Canyon entrance and super easy to find.

Easy to find, gravel road with some bumps and holes, but easy for our RV 25ft 2WD. Spend only one night, did hear only one car pasing during the night.

We drove further the 328 road and found a wonderful large spot with fire ring. Forest roads under the Grand Canyon are probably always crowded, but here we felt both very private and safe. One of the best spots of our journey. Don't be affraid to drive further the road to find a nice space.

The road in is narrow and on some sides there have been cut deep gutters to catch the rain runoff. I got nervous about turning around our 20 ft motorhome, but we found a spot and it worked out. Our spot had a nice fire ring, and 9space for a tent. We heard two big noisy trucks race by about 8:00 p.m. and then all was quiet after that.

Beautiful, peaceful camp site. Other than occasional car passing down gravel road nearby its very quiet. There are stones placed for fire pit.

Great location with many spots. We came early afternoon and there were many spots left.

Drove in only about 1/4 mile and sites were available off gravel road. Road wasn't bad, dry this time, few holes & ridges. Camp we chose had 2 fire rings of rock, a circle loop drive back to road. Plenty of down, dead, dinky wood to gather. Elk along area and other wildlife in the night sounds. Our site had large Ponderosa amid low scrub and rock. Look out when rains come, gets greasy and of course, red. Best aspect is the proximity to Grand Canyon NP south entrance! Literally the first road on the west side heading out of south entrance.

We are on our way home to Tulsa from Grand Canyon and needed to stay overnight. Perfect secluded spot

This is an awesome camping spot just outside of the Grand Canyon! It is bery secluded and quite! The only downside is how fast people drive down the road. It really stirs up the dirt.

So glad we found this place since Mather campground was full when we arrived into town around 6pm. Found an open site a little ways down the road with a flat area to pitch our tent and a fire ring someone had set up before us. Such a serene camping experience.

Tons of spots and our 24ft camper had no problems. Could have chosen any spot and been fine! There is a large spot in the beginning where all the big campers were but we went farther in for privacy. Don’t get too close to the wild horses!! No helicopter noise but it was blowing 35mph all day
