Nice and quiet

Nice and quiet area. Roads leading to the lake are washboard dirt roads. Easy to get through in any vehicle. Lake is small. No swimming. Kayaking and paddle boarding allowed. Fishing is supposed to be good. Campsites are set up nice. Some shadier than others. Gets buggy in morning and dusk.

Fantastic location

Solo camping during the week proved to be very peaceful at this site... wanting to escape the Phoenix heat for a few days, I enjoyed kayaking, paddle boarding, and wildlife viewing! My only complaint was that I chose a site (81) that offered zero shade! I now know better for next visit

Great camp; terrible road.

One of the best national park campgrounds we've ever been to. But getting here was 10 miles of pure hell. The absolute worst road ever. Worse than any boondocking site we've ever been to.

We are in site E86 and it is beautiful. A bit far from the lake. A loop looks like the best sites for lake view.

No services. Toilets and drinking water available. Cannot fill your RV.

There is a food truck with snacks and kayak and canoe rentals.

Nice place but will not endure that road again to stay here.

Diamond amongst the trees

White Horse Lake / campground is simply awesome.  The road in can be a little rough at times but is generally ok.  The campgrounds are well laid out, the spacing is pretty good.  The restrooms are always clean.  There can be loud music in the evenings but that goes with the territory of campgrounds.

There is a lot to do here, fishing, kayaking/canoeing, lots and lots of hiking.    You can hike to the edge of Sycamore Canyon by following the trails that lead NW from the lake.  This is an easy hike and would be great for all ages.  Sycamore Falls just NW of the lake is a great hike, one of my favorites.  Especially when the water is running with force.

There are generally activities planned by the rangers - all in all a great place to spend a few days.

Quite & Clean

Spent 5 nights in June, 2020. Weather was great. Lake was nice, and the fish were biting !! There were a lot of Elk. Campsite clean, there are vault toilets and potable water. The camp host and his wife kept the restrooms exceptionally clean. The road in is 11 miles of washboard, dirt roads. There are also several nice areas on the way to the lake for boondicking as well

Awesome spot.

Had a wonderful time with a group of friends. We got Spot 063 D 064 D. I highly recommend those camping spots it’s right next to the lake and they are together for a group of friends. The actual group site is closed due to covid but these spots are good. Sunflower lane is around the corner and so is sycamore falls. It’s a hike with a beautiful view of a water fall. There are tons of off road roads so motorcycles or side by sides are recommended. You can also rent kayaks for the lake.

Great escape

We camp here with a group and reserve the entire D loop. It is a great little campground with large campsites. Many sites have two tent pads. The park hosts are friendly and keep the vault toilets very clean. They don't smell like vault toilets at all. There's lots of shade, but not a lot of foliage between the sites for privacy. If you're looking for seclusion, this may not be the place for you. But it's definitely a quiet campground, and we enjoy our time here with friends. They have a little snack shack where you can but burgers and snacks, even giant snow cones. Bring a fishing pole and a kayak or raft to enjoy the lake. You can't swim in the lake, but our kids love catching frogs and crawdads. To get there, if you're coming from Flagstaff, don't take the exit before Williams like Google will try to take you. Those dirt roads are often flooded, especially during monsoon season where they are impassable. Go all the way into Williams and come in from that route. The roads are MUCH better.

White Horse Lake spot D68

Nice quiet area, short drive to Williams, Az & Flagstaff. Restrooms are available but no showers at the location I was at. The grounds were extremely clean. Fire pits available, two large concrete picnic tables were on the site. We had 3 cars there and plenty of room at this site. I’d stay here again if I could.

Beautiful lakeside sites

Clean, space between sites, super close to the lake, food truck, can rent kayaks and SUP boards.

only negative is there isn’t a ton of shade. Some in each campsite, but if you don’t bring your own you will have to move your chairs a lot.

Feel like your far away with out being so far...

What a great little campground nestled in the Williams forest area, about a 20 mile drive from downtown Williams and 15 of those miles are on a well kept dirt road. Super nice camp Host was very helpful. The campsite is very well maintained, a very simple campground surrounding White Horse lake. Clean and well stocked Toilets and water are the basic amenities. We tent camped at what I'm going to say is the best site on the grounds Loop C 58.The campsite had a gravel tent pad, fire ring with grill insert, and a picnic table. The view of the lake was wonderful and we were sourrounded by tall pine trees. A bit of a walk to haul your stuff in, but well worth the extra effort of doing so. We walked around the campground and were impressed on how tiddy it is, and for $25 a night a good deal to be sure. There's some good things to do like 2 hiking trails, fish the lake, you can bring a no motorized boat, paddle broad, or canoe and spend some time on the lake, if you wanna take a drive you are about 1.5 hours away from the Grand Canyon, 20 Mintues from Downtown Williams or Bearizona and 25 mintues from the Deer Farm, all great family fun. While we were their they had an food vendor selling all kinds of food and renting paddle boards, they even sold a few " I FORGOT ITEMS" (toothpaste, ice, bread, etc.) They have a spot till the end of the 2018 summer season, but not sure if they will be back as it all depends on the forestry department. It was nice to have a local vendor close by, instead of tracking into town, and the snowcone were awesome,,,

Summer Roadtrip Stop

We chose this spot only because the Grand Canyon sites had all been booked for the week we came into Arizona. Bummer at first, until we got here and met Bob our host here at White Horse who was extremely accommodating in letting us choose our campsite and giving plenty of recommendations for nearby trails and the awesome Sycamore Canyon Falls that's very close by and has a drive up option to where you hike in only 1/2 a mile or less to see the falls. It's a good drive in from Williams, AZ which is the closest town from the campgrounds with Flagstaff, AZ being a good hour or so after you make it to the interstate, but well worth it. I'd recommend high clearance vehicles, but others would do just fine in my opinion. It's serene in our little site and there is a decent amount of distance from your closest neighbor. Restrooms are very close to campsites with running well water. Cement tables are my favorite and the short walk to the lake was an added plus. It's late July and it has rained 2 days in a row for us. It's been 65-70 degrees during the day and 50 degrees at night, so definitely bring long sleeves and rain gear! Rain was plentiful from southern Arizona into central Utah. Will definitely be staying here again in the future!

Tripp

The mountians of Williams are peaceful and the town offers great shopping. A part of Route 66 goes through town making it a popular stop along the 40. The weather is beautiful all year long with winter snow and cool summer nights.

Nice campground, lots of snakes!!!

Nice campground, super duper clean pit toilet!!!!! We had a campsite right next to it, and never even smelled it! Not very private sites, but well maintained grounds and nice groundskeepers. But my daughter is terrified of snakes, and we ran into 4 harmless water snakes during our 2 day stay, yikes!!!
