Kingman Wash — Lake Mead National Recreation Area

Yes, it’s crowded on the weekends and there is trash left behind. But if you’re here on weekdays it’s beautiful, peaceful and I enjoyed the burros and the big horn sheep!

It is so over crowded. When we started coming here 3 yrs ago it was so beautiful and peaceful. Now it’s overwhelming and full of trash The weekenders are horrible. Loud, leave all their trash, and park so you can’t open your vehicle doors.

This is a great spot and just the kind I like going to. Off the beaten path, secluded an near water. However, be warned. I stayed here on a Saturday night and apparently it is a party spot for locals. One dude with loud ass subwoofers kept turning up his music until near 2200. Also, it stays packed an getting a spot right next to the water will be difficult. Plenty of other decent spots just up from the water though.

There are spots available all along Kingman Wash Access Road. We were in the 6th spot from the highway, less than half a mile in. Our spot had two fire pits and a big bag of garbage. Well at least they put it in a bag. Not much out here to recommend it other than the stark desert scenery. Evidence of visits from burros. People do drive very quickly along this reasonably good gravel road with some washboarding. There is a sign recommending continuing down the road only with a 4x4, but we did not have a problem with our Ford Transit van. Just go slow.

Rough road getting in, but I managed it in my 2020 ford transit extended length. Keep it under 10mph and was able to get in. There are a few sections with heavy bumps ripples and potholes on hills that take care navigating. Not likely to come back now that Ive been once. Worth the trip, not the repeat

Used this as my base camp for exploring other nearby areas such as Arizona Hot Springs and Goldstrike Canyon. I prefer to camp naked and everyone was cool with it.   It has vault bathrooms, amazing sunsets, safe water, great skinny-dipping/snorkeling.  Great spot to paddleboard to nearby Hoover Dam.  Great for SCUBA.  The burros rarely bite.  They just want food, if you ignore them, they'll go on to the next car.

We took our camper van down to the water. About 3 miles on the dirt road. Some spots are bumpy but we made it without ever getting stuck. Beautiful view. Worth it.

Rough road in but larger rigs can make it without getting stuck if carful. Only issue is with the water so low the level stuff is way back.

Perfect place to get into the water to cool off on a hot summer day. Tranquil, expansive and unique. Until that one group who shows up... with the jetboat, the generator, and the spotlight. So, maybe avoid weekends, holidays and other days that might encourage people to gather together... if you want to enjoy the water, quiet, and the stars. Definitely worth it if you want to cool off... much nicer than the other side.

This place for sure needs a high clearance vehicle. We came in at night and was hard to tell what were spots and which ones were occupied. Road is very rough so ended up staying near the beginning of this road. No amenities here.

We are in a short skoolie and so clearance was not an issue - we stayed out of the sandier areas at the beach and did fine. It is a tricky road but slow is the key.

Arrived earlier in the day on a Monday so there was a lot of space when we arrived but it filled up pretty quickly - sure it is busy on weekends. We did get a visit from a burrow. Water is beautiful, views are beautiful. Lots of dogs and rocks so if mobility is an issue, the terrain is a bit challenging. Overall, great stay.

This campground is amazing! There are bathrooms, but I did not use them. Donkeys roam around and the bugs are pretty extra. The 3 mile off road was a little intimidating with my 20ft camper but we made it! So worth it! Only sad thing is, it's a pack it out campground but a fair amount of trash is just left laying around. The water is great and is perfect for my paddleboard! Weather wise be prepared for the heat. It was 101°F when we arrived, 80° at night. Bring lots of water to drink!

Dirt Road easy accessible with 30ft camper. View on lake and sunset are fantastic. Donkeys included. Recommended 👍🏼

We stayed for just one night in early April, and our timing couldn't have been more perfect! We arrived right at sunset and managed to snag a fantastic spot right on the water's edge. Watching the sun go down over the water from that location offered some truly incredible views. It was a wonderful, memorable experience, even for a short stay. We definitely look forward to our next trip and making another stop here!

Really fun spot, but don’t get there later at night or it could be hard to get a spot. Super pretty to wake up and see in the morning though

Gorgeous views of the lake. Not for someone looking for solitude as there will most certainly be other campers. While you can find some spots that are flatter, most are slanted. Bathroom is clean, 10/10. If you’re lucky, you might get a visit from some very adorable local donkeys.

Amazing views plenty of room spread out. Some good hikes.. just started climbing on either side. Lots of fire circles. But the views were spectacular and stole the show. Best off grid dispersed camping experience we have ever had.

Loved finding this place a year ago but the road down was pretty gnarley but they have since fixed it and any 2wd can make it.

Beautiful scenery but under flight path for airport and motorcycles up early on weekend.

Access to lake mead, plenty of little pull offs scattered throughout a small valley to set up camp in, a vault toilet, and a herd of Burros roaming around. Incredible views of lake mead and the surrounding elevation! Road was gravel and decently accessible for my van!

This area is amazing Between the rocks, the lake, the burros, the vault toilets, and the open space it’s beautiful!!! The burros are NOT wild 😂 & they get into everything. But we loved it. It definitely is a bumpy drive and I would not recommend trying to take a large rv down the wash road. I brought my 5x8 converted cargo trailer down and would do it again, but it was rough.

Very close to the water. Very few people. Gorgeous scenery!. The road is a little rough getting a camper down there but they do have volted toilets.

There’s a lake at the end of the sketchy road that makes it all worth while especially in the heat. Water is clear and plenty of space to park if you’re just there to visit. May feel too crammed if you have a camper though. I thoroughly enjoyed staying here for 2 nights.

The location was nice, quick drive In. Directly in the flight path for Vegas. Light pollution from the city

This was an amazing campsite. The drive there was a bit choppy especially towards the end, but the view of the lake was worth it. There were wild donkeys that were friendly and a beautiful view of the lake. The weather was very nice too.

Went in November with rented RV (25ft 2WD) some bits of the road where very steep and bumpy, but we did make it.(even in the dark) Nice to wake up on this spot. Whould not go with this RV when road is wet. I think with AWD it is no problem.

Decent spot to stay for a while. Made it to the water with my 20” travel trailer without an issue. I was a little worried about getting it back out since part of the road was very rough. Fortunately they graded the road while I’m here so it shouldn’t be a problem. Great AT&T service. T-Mobile service is meh. A few nights got extremely windy.
