Free dispersed camping sits directly adjacent to the Glen Canyon Dam Bridge visitor center, occupying a large, mostly level parking area that accommodates both big rigs and smaller RVs. The site functions as an overnight pulloff rather than a traditional campground, with no facilities or designated spots.
Road noise from the nearby highway creates a constant background hum, though several campers note it's less intrusive than expected. The sandy portions of the lot can trap vehicles, so staying on the gravel areas proves essential. Tour groups occasionally stop during daylight hours to photograph the bridge overlook, but activity quiets after dark.
A mile-long trail follows the rocky canyon rim, providing access to views of the dam structure and surrounding landscape. The location puts campers within walking distance of the visitor center and positions them well for exploring camping near Page. Lawrence R. notes "You can easily walk to the visitor center and up the road there is a 2 mile hike to see some hanging ferns."
This spot works best as a convenient overnight stop for self-contained vehicles passing through the area. Arrive with full water tanks and plan to stay on the firmer gravel surface to avoid getting stuck in loose sand.
