Great RV park!

We stumbled upon this park when we were visiting family in the area. It’s a gem! Very well maintained, clean, nice big spaces and good distance between you and your neighbor. Friendly and helpful owners. Also, check out the bulletin area in the laundry room, there’s a lot going on and ways to…

Pretty Stay

Gorgeous setting, but very crowded. People pull up for the day with no qualms about being in your campsite. It’s noisy. The staff is very kind. Upon leaving we could not believe the piles of garbage left….and there are plenty of dumpsters! Definitely worth visiting, though.

Perfect Stopover!

Stopped into here on the way from Austin down to the coast.

Snagged site #4 and I was the only one in the primitive camp area.

Bathrooms at entrance station stayed unlocked overnight for my use.

AT&T cell service was good enough for me to do some work on my hotspot.

Went for a nice…

Noisy, Busy, High Traffic

Felt like i was camping on the infield of a racetrack surrounded by a promenade of cars/trucks playing loud music- will be hard-pressed to ever go back

Nice RV sites with hiking and biking

The sites have nice paved spots, many have views of the lake, and are spacious. We stayed in the equestrian area since the other area for non equestrian sites is currently closed. There are trails you can access in the park, with many more miles a short drive away. Two bridges are out on the…

Cost-effective cabin, super friendly hosts

We spent Christmas Eve here in a cabin and had a wonderful time! not only was every single shelter/cabin site around us empty so we truly felt like we were disconnected from urban life, but we got to see wildlife! lots and lots of deer and owls. Bathrooms near cabins were under construction so we…

Great campsite

We stayed equestrian site 4 which is a fairly private site. Moon was nearly full and the coyotes were howling all night long. All in all it was a nice small state park with great views of Lake Somerville.

Peaceful and very relaxing

So this was my first time staying here and I promise won’t be my last! First off the camp hosts were very friendly and informative. The hiking trail although wasn’t very long at around 2-3 miles max were a pleasant walk in the woods and along the lake shoreline. There’s a very nice boat ramp toward…

More Camp Hosts Here than Deer!

November 2020 ALERT! Due to Interstate 10 construction, the eastbound exit for San Felipe is closed so the navigation system took us further East and then backtracked on some horrible condition rural roads. Recommend going to Brookshire and using FM 359 and then FM 1458 to reach Park Road…

Beautiful quiet lake

A nice campground with big sites and lots of trees. Midweek in October is super quiet and almost empty. Each site has a grill and a table. The campground has a very nice nature trail, a boat ramp and bath houses. The lake is nice for kayaking and fishing. Site is about 25 minutes from Brenham…

Great first visit

Clean camping grounds. Designated tent areas and fire rings. Hot showers and flushing toilets all in a clean bathroom. Listening to the coyotes late at night was awesome.

Great State Park

Full hookups with 30 amps. Semi circle drive thru that fit my 44 ft motorhome and towed Jeep. Deer all over and saw a 6 point buck. Very dark with no lighting. We arrived around midnight and was a little difficult finding our spot. Fire pit and plenty of room.

Great camping large lake, good location - July 2020

Well spaced spots.  Fairly level pads with table, fire ring, 30/50 amp electrical, water.  We didn't see any covered tables, but all usable spots had concrete pads for tables.  Like a lot of east-Texas camping areas, LSSP was also devastated by Hurricane Harvey and is still recovering, but don't…

Nice and peaceful getaway for our inaugural RV trip!

Small, quiet campground. Tall pines with hanging moss and palmettos make for interesting topography. Easy 2 mile paved hiking trial meanders around campsite and near lake. Nice sunsets in the evenings on the trail. There's a much longer trail system entrance that I'd like to checkout next time. We…
