The area is characterized by the river delta where Bright Angel Creek meets the Colorado River. There is a ranger station, emergency phone, pay phones, year-round potable water, and toilets. To reach this campground you can travel the South Kaibab Trail (and cross the black bridge) or the Bright Angel Trail (and cross the silver bridge) from the South Rim, or travel the North Kaibab Trail from the North Rim. Cottonwood trees shade Bright Angel Campground and the creek is a wonderful place to cool off. Deer, ringtail cats, gray foxes, and squirrels are often seen. Popular activities include relaxing, wading in Bright Angel Creek, stargazing, fishing (license required), and day hiking. Day hike destinations include the River Trail and Phantom Overlook. Seasonal ranger programs are offered. Snack items and meals are available for purchase at Phantom Ranch Lodge (meals must be reserved in advance 303-297-2757).

Bright Angel Campground

Phantom Ranch is a historic oasis nestled at the bottom of Grand Canyon. It is on the north side of the Colorado River tucked in beside Bright Angel Creek. Make sure to put in your Phantom Ranch reservations, as its the only lodging below the canyon rim, and can only be reached by mule, on foot or by rafting the Colorado River.

 The rustic cabins and main lodge are built of wood and native stone blending with the natural beauty of the setting.

 Our cabins and dorms do not have phones or televisions, but a pay phone is available at Phantom Ranch (credit card or phone card ONLY).

 The Phantom Ranch Canteen serves breakfast and dinner, which must be reserved in advance. If you have special dietary needs, such as glucose intolerance or food allergies, please advise the reservation agent at the time of booking. Phantom Ranch will do their best to accommodate all special requests.

Spring Valley Cabin and Bunkhouse offer a peaceful retreat with spectacular views, quiet solitude, wildlife viewing opportunities and access to cross country ski trails, all just minutes away from Flagstaff, and one hour from Grand Canyon National Park. This year-round getaway can host up to 14 people between the cabin and adjacent bunkhouse.   
  
The facility can be accessed by vehicle, however, drive-in access may not be available in winter. Forest Road 74 is not maintained during winter and the road may be closed during heavy snowfall.Cross country ski access is available when conditions require it. The distance from the winter parking area to the cabin is one mile. Guests are responsible for their own travel arrangements and safety, and must bring several of their own amenities.

## Recreation

With miles upon miles of national forest and park lands to explore, visitors have no shortage of outdoor activities from which to choose. The cabin is adjacent to a cross country ski trail, which provides access to the cabin when the roads are covered in snow, and an area for snow tubing is nearby.   
  
Hiking, horseback riding and mountain biking are very popular in this area, and there are plenty of trails. Visitors might be lucky enough to spot wildlife such as elk, mule deer, wild turkeys, javelina, coyote and numerous birds and raptors that live in the area.

## Facilities

The facility is made up of two buildings, a cabin and bunkhouse. The cabin is equipped with three twin bunk beds with mattresses and two futon couches, to sleep up to nine people. A maximum of ten peoples are allowed within the cabin. There is a living/dining area, a restroom with flush toilet and shower, and a kitchen with drinking water and plenty of kitchen supplies.   
  
The bunkhouse offers three twin size bunkbeds with mattresses and one full-size futon couch available to sleep up to seven people. Gas/propane heaters, wood stoves and firewood are provided. A parking area, picnic tables are located outside.   
  
Campers must bring their own food, bedding (sheets, pillows, blankets and/or sleeping bags), bath and kitchen towels, garbage bags, warm clothing, dish soap and flashlights, among other necessities. The facility must be cleaned and all food and trash removed prior to departure.

## Natural Features

The structures are located at an elevation of 7,320 feet, overlooking a wide meadow while being nestled beneath mature ponderosa pines. The cabin was constructed in 1917 as the residence for rangers who worked at the guard station. The bunkhouse served as the office. It is still occasionally used as a field station for U.S. Forest Service employees.   
  
Winter brings a mix of sun with cold temperatures and occasional winter storms. Summer temperatures are relatively pleasant, but weather can be unpredictable. Visitors should come prepared for changeable mountain weather, cold nights, thunderstorms and snow from fall through spring. 

## Nearby Attractions

Grand Canyon National Park's South Rim is a must-see attraction just over an hour away. The nearby town of Williams and the city of Flagstaff have numerous restaurants, hotels, gift shops, grocery stores and cultural attractions.

Spring Valley Cabin Bunkhouse

## Overview

Kendrick Cabin offers groups of up to 10 people the chance to experience spectacular mountain views, numerous hiking and mountain biking trails, and several cultural and historic attractions of the Southwest region. The rustic, three-bedroom masonry and wood cabin is a retired U.S. Forest Service fire guard station constructed in the 1960s. It lies just minutes from downtown Flagstaff and about an hour from the world-famous Grand Canyon National Park. Kendrick Cabin is located approximately 22 miles north of Flagstaff. The site is open from mid-April to mid-November. There is no electricity available and running water is provided only during peak season. All roads are suitable for a sedan except during winter months. Guests are responsible for their own travel arrangements and safety, and must bring several of their own amenities.

## Recreation

The Flagstaff area is a hub for hiking and mountain biking in warmer months and skiing in the winter. Dozens of trails are within a short drive of the cabin, including the scenic Kendrick Mountain Trail and several trails on the San Francisco Peaks. Bikes and off-road vehicles are allowed only on designated roads and trails.   
  
Families and photographers can enjoy a morning or evening walk along the Kendrick Park Watchable Wildlife Trail, which is adjacent to the cabin. Hunting is also available in many nearby areas within the Coconino national forest.

## Facilities

The multiple-room, two-story cabin is equipped with a solar lighting system, propane stovetop range, small refrigerator, dining area with a table and chairs, and a wood stove. Furniture includes two futon couches in livingroom, one double bed in the downstairs bedroom and two twin beds in each of the two upstairs bedrooms. Kitchen supplies include pots, pans, utensils, dishes, a coffee pot and can opener. A grill, campfire ring, picnic table and bathhouse with a flush toilet and shower are located outside, not far from the cabin. The cabin has an accessible ramp to the front porch, providing wheelchair access to the main floor of the house and one bedroom. The bath house and the path from the house to the bathhouse is not wheelchair accessible. The cabin provides running water from mid-May to mid-October; at other times, users must bring potable water. After October 15th the bathhouse will be closed and visitors must use the vault toilet outside. Due to higher elevation (8,200'), the water may be turned off by October 1st , if early season freezing occurs. Please call the Forest Service to confirm potable water availability. The cabin now has a solar lighting system in the main house. The bath house solar light is a dial switch that times out automatically. Please ensure all lights are turned off upon departure. Guests must bring their own bedding (or sleeping bags) for one double bed, two queen futons and four single beds, as well as flashlights, towels, garbage bags, warm clothes, dish soap, dish towels, an axe or saw for splitting wood, and matches and newspaper for starting fires in the wood stove. There are two picnic tables outside. 

## Natural Features

The cabin is located at an elevation of 7,910 feet, in the scenic Kendrick Park area at the base of the 12,000-ft. San Francisco Peaks, the remains of an old volcano. From the facility, visitors have wonderful views of the peaks, Kendrick Mountain and the surrounding forest, as well as the night sky on clear nights.   
  
The area is home to elk, deer, antelope, fox, coyotes, mountain lions, numerous birds and other animals. 

## Nearby Attractions

The nearby city of Flagstaff is a popular stop along historic U.S. Route 66 and offers plenty of restaurants, museums, shops and an astronomical observatory.   
  
Guests can also drive 58 miles to the Grand Canyon National Park's scenic South Rim.

Kendrick Cabin

Mather Campground is located on the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park in northern Arizona. Grand Canyon is one of the most inspiring landscapes on Earth and draws over five million visitors per year to its spectacular scenery. Mather campground Grand Canyon is large and can accommodate a variety of needs and comfort levels. It is the only campground within Grand Canyon Village. Scenic overlooks, the park's free shuttle bus system, the Visitor Center, the general store and hiking and biking trails are all within a few miles from the facility. The campground is at an elevation of approximately 7,000 ft. Summers are sunny with high temperatures generally in the 80s. Thunderstorms frequently occur in July, August, and early September. Fall and spring are mostly sunny and cool with the occasional snow. Weather is variable; visitors should come prepared. Recreation From the campground, campers can access the Greenway, a paved walking and biking trail that leads to scenic overlooks and the Visitor Center. The Rim Trail, a paved walking trail, is one mile away and runs for 14 miles along the edge of the canyon. Leashed pets are allowed on both trails, but are not permitted below the rim. Bright Angel and South Kaibab trails descend into the canyon. Their trailheads are a short shuttle bus ride from the campground. The park's concessionaire also offers day and overnight mule riding trips into the canyon and along the rim. Facilities Mather Campground is a large facility with 327 campsites. Each site includes a campfire ring with a cooking grate, picnic table, parking space and room for up to three tents. There are flush toilets and drinking water spigots throughout the campground. There are no hookups available but there is a free dump station near by at Camper Services. Trailer Village, located next to Mather Campground, has hookups and can accommodate larger RVs. Almost all of the RV spaces are pull-through. Generators are NOT permitted in Pine Loop (sites 265-319). Natural Features Mather Campground lies beneath a mixture of a tall canopy of Ponderosa pine, Pinyon, and Juniper trees, providing most campsites with ample shade. The campground is one mile from the rim of the canyon. A visit to the canyon during sunrise and sunset yields spectacular views of yellow, orange, red and violet hues in the canyon walls. Layers of rock display billions of years of geologic history. Campers can take a short shuttle bus ride from the campground to the Visitors Center. Visitors can also visit Yavapai Geology Museum, where they learn about the forces that formed the canyon. Below, visitors can see the mighty Colorado River, which flows 277 miles through the bottom of the canyon. Wildlife abounds on the South Rim, including elk, mule deer, coyotes, lizards, songbirds and the endangered California condor. Although condors nest below the rim, they can be seen soaring several thousand feet above the canyon in search for carrion. Nearby Attractions Numerous visitor centers, restaurants, museums and shops are within a shuttle bus ride from the campground. Beyond the village, Desert View provides one of the widest views of Grand Canyon and the Painted Desert. The Desert View Watchtower displays the talent of architect Mary Jane Colter. Kaibab National Forest limits reservation availability at Hull Cabin.

The Kaibab National Forest is limiting available reservations at Hull Cabin to one group per weekend. Available nights to book are Friday, Saturday, and Sunday with a minimum stay of 2 nights. Forest officials determined that this would be the best way to allow for reservations while ensuring full and adequate cleaning between groups. The Kaibab National Forest will reassess the situation as the safety risk to the public declines due to Covid-19. 

Located just steps away from the world-famous Grand Canyon National Park, Hull Cabin is the oldest historic structure in the area. It provides a variety of amenities, as well as access to multiple recreational activities within the Tusayan Ranger District of the Kaibab National Forest. Visitors enjoy miles of trails, fishing at the nearby tanks, sightseeing and viewing the region's abundant wildlife.  
  
The cabin can be accessed by vehicle. A portion of the roadway is graded gravel, requiring slower speeds. Guests are responsible for their own travel arrangements and safety, and must bring several of their own amenities.

## Recreation

With miles upon miles of national forest and park lands to explore, visitors have no shortage of outdoor activities from which to choose. Hiking, horseback riding and mountain biking are available on an 800-mile segment of the Arizona Trail, as well as within Grand Canyon National Park.   
  
Fishing can usually be accessed at nearby Russell Tank during an average or high water season. The small Hull Tank, located near the cabin, is a prime watering hole for wildlife such as elk, mule deer, wild turkey, javelina and numerous birds and raptors. Lucky visitors may even have the chance to spot an endangered California condor.

## Facilities

The cabin sleeps up to six people. It consists of a bedroom, living room and a fully equipped kitchen. The bedroom has two sets of twin-sized bunk beds, and there is one queen-sized futon in the living room. Kitchen supplies include indoor plumbing (water is hauled to the site), an oven, stove, refrigerator with freezer, dishes, utensils, pots, pans and some cleaning supplies.

The cabin sits in a secluded meadow surrounded by a stand of old growth ponderosa pine trees, at an elevation of 6,500 feet. The location provides easy access to Grandview Lookout Tower, which offers 360-degree views of the canyon and surrounding forest.   
  
The building originated as a one-room homestead, constructed by the Hull family in the late 1880s with hand-hewn logs. It was acquired by the U.S. Forest Service in 1907 for use as a ranger station. In 1985, the cabin was listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Summer temperatures on the South Rim are relatively pleasant, but weather can be unpredictable. Visitors should come prepared for changeable mountain weather, cold nights, thunderstorms or even snow.
