Some of the best tent camping in AZ

We're frequent campers, and this is one of our favorite spots in AZ!

The tent-only campground is small, but the sites are large and have multiple great clearings for tents. Lots of shade and easy paths for walking around the grounds, plus there's potable water at several sites. Central…

Great for end of winter

We always enjoy this campground. All the loops were closed but the Mallard loop. Going through some renovations on the others. We had freezing temps overnight but the days were perfect. A bit windy but bearable. No fish or even any bites.

Nice But Sites a Little Tricky

This is really a Park Model Resort that has about 25% of their sites set aside for RVs. The RV sites are scattered throughout the park but they have tried to group them together as much as possible. The sites are pretty level, really wide, and fairly deep. There is a concrete patio with each site.…

  • Parking space for RV site. Parking is next to your RV.
  • Park Models.
  • Example of sites. Most have trees. RV goes to the right of the tree between patio and sewer connection.

Excellent, easy campsite

We pulled into this site after a long day on motorcycles. Sites were easily accessible and our site had some flat ground and a fire ring. There were quite a few people there and we did not feel at all secluded in nature but, honestly, we didn’t mind the company and everyone was far enough away that…

Beautiful site BUT be aware of bear

Had a great time last August. We started at this campsite as we found it online. When we arrive there was only one other person there but very limited camping. There are only a total of eight sites all of which are set up for horses. All the stalls pretty clean and didn’t smell and the outhouse was…

Clean, comfortable campground

For the cleanliness, this campground should get 5 stars. The people who work there clean the bathrooms throughout the day so they’re always nice. The camp spots are good sized and as private as they can be with being as close as they are. Overall, we were really impressed here!

Amazing for winter also

A family favorite but a first for winter time. We were very pleased with the weather even considering it was really cold at night. The lake is extremely low. But still beautiful.

It’s really a perfect place we’re it not for so many kids

All facilities were extremely clean. Bathroom heated. Scenic lake views. Even in dead of winter very popular and kinda crowded. Maybe bc covid and school was out the place was packed with children.

Great Spot

The cleanest restrooms/showers I’ve ever seen. Cool lake. Some staff are a little bristly.

Great Campground

We really loved this place. Incredibly clean and well kept sites. We stayed at Mallard 02 and it was a great spot. It’s a double spot so might be really tight if another family showed up. All sites have concrete pads and most seem to have full hookups. Beautiful trail around the lake that was great…

River side camp site

Cozy campground with (I believe) 6 camp sites. Fire rings at each site. River runs next to campground and may be accessed walking through bushes. Separate M & F vault toilets available.

Tent Camping with a view

This tent walk in site has been our family favorite for decades. The sites have plenty of room for 2 tents. There is a clean bathroom in the campsite as well as water. This sites are across the small road from the lake. This is our favorite place to camp with other family members since the sites…

Fresh & new

Great 1 nighter! The camp host was very friendly & helpful. This park is brand new, and clearly they know what they’re doing. Good wide turns, clear signage, and in 10 years all the baby trees will super. We even had pizza delivered to our spot. All basics covered, but no thrills. A…

Absolutely Beautiful Campground Highly Recommended

Redhead Loop Site 14 may have been the most perfect campsite we had on a month long cross country trip from North Carolina to the Grand Canyon and back. We were blown away by how beautiful Fool Hollow Lake was, and the sites were all spread out so much you'd think you're the only people there. It…

Beautiful and clean sites

Many available campsites, some with tables, and this campground. First come first served. I was there in mid October and there were only a few other campsites taken. Lovely place and pretty quiet at night even though it's close to the hwy.
