Quick Stay!

Stopped by hoping we could get a spot as it was getting late. The host was off but he stopped out and told us to go have fun! The place was full but very clean. Some older rigs that added character. Overall it felt safe and we would stay again!

BLM dry camping 14 day limit.

The high Jolly 14 day limit BLM dispersed camping area is a couple of miles south of Plumosa Road. Plumosa Road is the northern most BLM area and is also a 14 night limit. South of Quartzsite are 6 more areas. South of Quartzsite are for long-term visitor areas (LTVA). You can stay there for the whole season for $180 including dumpsters pit toilet water. The LTVAs are  Laposa West, Laposa North, Laposa south and the Tyson wash BLM area. South of that is the 14 day limited area called road runner wash BLM. West of town is the dome rock 14 day area and to the east is Scadden wash, another 14 day area. The signs say you must register your vehicles with the camp host by filling out a form for free where they will write in the date of your arrival and the day you must leave. However a lot of people do not do that and I've never seen any authorities come around and tell people they have to move the minimum 25 miles.

BLM dispersed campground

BLM dispersed campground.  There is about 0.4 mile of available camping, once you go back that far there are signs stating "Day Use Only Beyond this point" and the road gets rougher but 4 wheel drive vehicles can go further out, camp beyond those signs at your own risk.  Lots of places to camp before that but lots of campers during the RV show!

14 day free BLM camping

This is my third night staying at this BLM camping area. First and foremost it offers 14 days of free camping, so any things that it lacks in convenience, should be somewhat expected. The camp host you sign in with was super friendly and told me of events going on in Quartzite. It's mostly flat and rocky with some taller trees for shade depending where you set up at. There's no water or black tank dump site in the camping area. It's only a couple miles from town which is pretty convenient. Town gets busy so plan ahead for food and water. Stores can run low on supplies for sure. If you Park close to entrance side, you will hear traffic noise ALL night. Very busy highway.

OK, but no data except Facebook

Nice place. Flat and clean and free. Tmobile voice and text only. Usually, no data connection even with a top-of-the-line signal booster.

Super clean and flat for BLM

Can't beat free! Stay up to 14 days on flat gravel. Some man made fire pits. Highway noise not to bad, just park further in. Plenty of space and cell tower nearby

VERY popular

I've visited here 2 years in a row, 2021 and 2022. It seems to be pretty popular as it was very diffecult to find a secluded camp area.

Really big and perfect location

Hi Jolly is BLM so it’s free which means you need to be self-contained.

Although we are here in the winter, it’s full but not packed. The spots are large and able to accommodate our Class A. This area has a park host, so if he’s there, check in. It’s clean, lots of dogs (which I am a fan of…we have four). People seem to be great at cleaning up their areas and using leashes. There are big fancy Phaetons and small tents…seems to accommodate everyone nicely.

The town is less than a mile away with the best spot to stop and dump tanks and get water. It’s called RV Pit Stop and is amazing, but get your propane at the 76 two blocks further into Quartzite. A lot cheaper. But the RV Pit Stop has everything you need, including a technician! Really great people.

Cell service is good here for calls and texts, not so much for data use.

Overall, this is an excellent spot in a great location.

Wide open in December

Found the whole Quartzsite area intriguing and lots of activities i.e. craft shows, swap meets and other get together’s. If you do not have a four-wheel-drive then there are not many outdoor activities. We saw delivery trucks for emptying black tanks, Propane, and water. Quartzsite has everything an RV dispersed camper could need.

Great spot

Large dispersed camping. Boondocking here was easy, close to town and beautiful sunrise/sunset. The host was nice. No fee camping so how could anyone complain! Flat land with lots of room to explore.

Close to town

This place is like a rv park with no amenities. If you don’t mind your neighbor’s being as close as 100’ or less and generators running all night, this might be your kinda place. I stayed one night because the Rv Pitstop refused me 5 min before the closed. Another reason for me to dislike Quartzsite.

Free BLM Canping, 5 mins from town

The pluses are free camping, large open areas enough to fit hundred rv’s or more. The main downside is that because it is so close to Quartzsite there are a lot of people camping here so don’t expect a whole lot of privacy. However, it is kind of cool being immersed in a community of like minded people! Must register with the host on site to camp here. No fee though.

It’s perfectly fine for free..

It is BLM and it’s FREE! You do have to register with the host when you pull in. It’s the first camper on the left. It’s rocky ground but that never bothered us. You just pick wherever you want that’s large enough for your needs. It’s not actual sites, it just a large area and you pick where you want and can fit your rig. Fires are aloud and that’s great. There are fire pits made of the rocks there from previous campers or you can make another. It’s primitive. It’s also pretty quiet..day and night. One of the pictures is of Dome Rock that is close to go visit but not at this camping area.

Free & Close to Quartzsite

Free dispersed camping, about 3 miles north of Quartzsite, with no services available, but lots of space and beautiful views of surrounding mountains. No trash service here, but area is very close to the Refuse Transfer Station off Hwy 95.

Be sure to register with the Camp Host on duty near the entrance to the area.

Unlike some of the other BLM land nearby where many RVers were using solar panels, nearly everyone here at Plomosa was using a generator.

Sunrises and sunsets are endless and beautiful! Easy access back into town for food, gas, firewood, laundry, and just about everything a camper could need.
