Solitude + Stars

A few miles off 191 south of Morceni. 2 pull thru sites and 5 others. Clean. Fire rings. Trash. Vault facilities. $5 night. Quiet. Only one here in fact.

Great spot

Beautiful views albeit mostly hiking along the dirt road… girlfriend and I went in my truck in May, 2021. I have been up to this site a couple times before in July and August months. Never have been disappointed… like any camping site, it’s ideal if you can get there Monday-Thursday but weekends…

Primitive Camp in a Parking Lot

The campsite is a single fire ring in an unpaved parking lot about 100’ from the road which has moderate traffic. It’s free, and if you’re needing a spot to camp for the night, this might be for you. I visited in August so decided to opt for a motel room instead since the heat was well over 100.…

Checked out campsite

Went and checked out campsite. Was certainly hot. Little bit of walk to river but not bad. Was post monsoon weather. River was flowing fast and looked like chocolate. A lot of side roads for 4x4, quads etc. The Bonita creek drive is gorgeous and provides creek water you can get in. Was a beautiful…

Private and Clean

This site was very private and expansive for the location. There is the lower campsite however it is a bit down from the area where the tents were set up. There were multiple fire rings set up around the camp and the rangers who visited us informed that we may not use them and they were going to be…

A bit noisy

The camp sites are nice and large. Spaced out for plenty of room. Sound carries like crazy so kids screaming and dogs barking can be disappointing. The bathrooms are well kept as well. The lake is beautiful and a easy walk around for exercise. No campfires allowed.

Doesn’t take kids

I was told they accepted children and then told my kids were not welcome. Very disappointed.

Clean,! But big ole carp!

Went 7-6-2020. Campsites are good size. Had power and water hook ups. Virtually no spots have shade. Pop up AC couldn’t drop the temp below mids 80’s. Lake is small. Has a little “beach” area to swim. Water felt great. Fished that night and son caught and released a big ole carp. All in all a…

This is probably view wise my favorite place to camp. It was pretty full when I went with big RVs which made it hard to find a spot off the road. The spots are pretty easy to get into though the road is pretty clear and smooth. The sunset here is unmatched.

High in the Jackpines

About 15 miles from 3 Way on 78, a nice little CG w pit toilets and no water. Though next to the road, there isn’t much traffic and our night was peaceful. I would guess that there are a dozen sites, fairly flat and good for tenting.

Accessible and Scenic

We stopped here on our way further west. There were 2 other campers there, but we were able to find a great spot where they couldn’t be seen.

Plenty of sites, ours was 1.5 miles off 191. Easy to get to in our 26’ bus. Saw a handful of vehicles pass by, likely on there way to Hot Wells.

Toxic Political Environment

Greeted by neat & clean environment (tho 100% rock) & Offensive political flags instead of the American & AZ flags. No COVID protocols followed. Will not return. Recommend Roper Lake State Park nearby.
