Small CG in tight canyon

Small cg at bottom of a canyon. No potable water, no trash dumpsters. Recent improvements seem to include a new bridge over the creek and several new vault toilets. However, this CG has NO CELL signal whatsoever. Note the road in narrows down to a single lane as it drops into the narrow canyon,…

OHV recreation focus

Lots of OHV recreation and campers here. Not my thing but those that enjoy OHV recreation this seems to be the camping spot. Lots of motorized routes all around the area.

Beautiful forest camping

We found a spot next to a stream on forest road 838. Very few campers in the area, all quiet and respectful. Road was rough, no problem for our Subaru Forester. Lots of hiking available in the area.

Large Campground-weird design

Large updated CG. Three loops, Loop A and Loop C are all fully reservation only. loop B is all FF only. Multiple hosts onsite. Most sites seem a bit small and short to my eyes, more for drive in cars, vans and smaller RVs. The design feature that I could strange is every site has a built up 6"…

Nice small CG in the pines

This cg is very nice, only 8 sites and every other one is either reserved or FF. No water but vault toilets are open. Dusty dirt road adjacent to the CG that goes to a over RV park may be an issue for sites close to that side. Dumpster on site. Cell signal good. Only 4 stars due to water system…

Gnats and cow poop

Amazing, gorgeous spot...however you cannot be outside without swarms of gnats and mosquitoes overtaking you. And the cows. Poop all along the shore. Gross.

Closed for reconstruction

As of June 2021. Closed. Use Lodgepole CG close by instead. If open it would be a nice small shaded CG and rate more stars.

Campground in the Aspens

Very nice campground in a mix of lodgepole and aspen trees. 35 sites..some are reserveable (1-22)..but #23-35 are FF. As of this review the water system was not working so no water, no restrooms since they are flush toilets, and no access to the RV dump. Portapotties right now. Hopefully this is a…

Shady but tight

Nice shady FS campground, but road in is a narrow one lane (it does has loop turnaround at end) so large RVs and TTs recon first. CG gets some hwy noise. Vault toilets, trash dumpster but water system is not functioning. Cell signal is good.

Newer of the three red canyon CGs

Newer of the three campgrounds on the Red Canyon road. This CG is better suited to groups and larger RVs and TTs. Roads and vault toilets are in better shape. Water spigots, trash dumpsters. $22 nite/$11 senior. Good cell service on all carriers. 18 sites and 4-,8-11 are FF.

Nice campground close to visitor center

Closest to the visitor center and the main paved road. This cg is older than canyon rim cg and paved road is broken up potholes. Sites are smaller and more for tent and truck/van campers, but small TTs could find a spot or two maybe. Only 8 sites total and only #1;4-5 are FF

Rocky road camp

FS road #13 has large diameter cobble base and makes for a bumpy road. There are much better dispersed sites across the hwy on FS roads #839 and #838 for RVs and TTs. I would not go up this road with a trailer unless you had a turnaround open. This area is best suited to overlander tent and…
