Anglers and wildlife watchers will find Flat Creek running directly below the campsites at Forest Road 30442, a dispersed area on the edge of the National Elk Refuge within Teton National Forest. The creek provides a consistent sound of moving water throughout the night, and open sightlines toward the Tetons give several sites, particularly the first one, clear views of the range. This is a drive-in dispersed area with roughly five or six sites, most of them flat and large enough for multiple vehicles.
Road conditions vary. The gravel road coming in is generally manageable without high clearance, but the final stretch into the camping area gets rocky and uneven enough that drivers of larger rigs should slow to a crawl. One reviewer in a 22-foot Class C motorhome made it through, though cautiously. T-Mobile cell service has been reported as reliable here, which is worth noting for this part of Wyoming.
Crowds are a real factor during peak summer season. This spot frequently fills with campers who couldn't secure a site at nearby Flat Creek Dispersed Site 9 — Teton NF or Curtis Canyon Road Dispersed — Teton NF. Arriving early in the day improves the odds of finding space. As Isabel L. puts it, it's "easy to get to with great views, better than similar options in the area." Campers planning a multi-night stay in the region can also browse places to camp near Teton National Forest for a broader picture of what's available before heading out.
