Description

Bureau of Land Management

Bureau of Land Management

Besides the sound of the river meandering north, this is a very peaceful campground. There is flyfishing for trout here. There is also a take out for the North Platte River, for canoers or kayakers. A control crest was put in below the dugway so boaters are advised to start their trips upstream. This is a free site with 5 campsites (1 pull-through, 4 spurs), group site, vault toilet, day use parking, picnic tables, fire rings/grills, and parking spur. The main attraction is the North Platte River for fishing and floating. No horses are allowed in the campground.

Hidden Gem!

Absolutely beautiful small BLM Camping right on the River Platt. We pulled our fifth wheel toy hauler with zero issues and parked in a large dirt pad.

Wonderful BLM site along river

Remote campground on the river; Beautiful views; vault toilet that is not close to most campsites.

Road is a bit rough getting in ; we had a great site off to the far right off by itself some of the others were closer together but all were nice.

Several cars came in after we did at first I thought all the sites would be taken before 5pm but a few ended up leaving... not sure why.

Peaceful Tent Camping near Sinclair

WY BLM Campground Nestled near Sinclair, Wyoming, the BLM campground offers a tranquil escape with five sites, including a convenient pull-through option. Situated at Exit 219 on I-80, follow signs towards Seminoe State Park on CR 351. The campground is roughly 6 miles from the interstate(N 41.86077 W 107.05328) and accessible even for small cars, even in rainy conditions.

While there's no drinking water available, the free campsites are worth the slightly bumpy road. The area is dog-friendly, perfect for those traveling with their furry companions. Basic amenities include scattered picnic tables and a pit toilet deep within the camp. No cell service (Verizon).

Be prepared for mosquitos, but the serene and picturesque surroundings more than compensate. For those seeking a nature-focused experience, this spot is ideal. Consider it a playground of natural beauty. Restrooms are limited to the pit toilet, and picnicking is a joy with tables dotted throughout the area. Despite the insect presence, this campground offers a peaceful haven, making it an excellent choice for tent camping enthusiasts.

Beautiful BLM Campground

This is a small campground on the banks of the North Platte River nestled in the hills north of Sinclair. There is a vault toilet and water crank for campers to use. Also, there is trash cans throughout the entire area. Cost is perfect at free. Easily accessible from the interstate. Very quiet. We spent a week here and were mostly alone during the day. At night others showed up to stay overnight and left in the morning. We were here over 4th of July.

A nice, tiny and mostly quiet CG right alongside the North Platte River

I would have rated this CG 4 stars, if it weren’t for the rattlesnakes. We are full-timers in a 36 ft Class A with a Cherokee Trailhawk tow and needed a place to boondock over the 4th weekend and this place fit the bill nicely. We stayed in the first site(site 5, go figure) on the loop for 7 days in early July. There are only 5 formal sites and one group site, but there are a few other informal sites to be had as well just outside the CG. The sites are gravel and all looked“fairly” level. We managed to just get level. Site 5 is a very long site and there are some fairly large potholes at the front of the site, but the backend is smooth. The sites are spaced about 100 yards or so apart, give or take depending on location. The grounds are all open sagebrush and there are a lot of rattlesnakes in the area - we saw four. Terri had a close encounter with one on the side of the road and 2 days later our dog was bitten right on the side of the road also and had to stay two nights at the vet in Rawlins, so be aware and careful. The mosquitos can be pretty bad in the mornings and evenings, but not too bad with the breeze/wind during the day. The biting flies can be an issue any time of day. Lemon Eucalyptus seemed to be pretty effective at keeping both at bay most times. However, the gnats are small enough to make it through our screens and our Katchy pad was full every morning. The ants were also rather pesty when sitting outside. As others have mentioned, we have seen deer, bald eagles, ducks, pelicans and heard a band of coyotes that came rather close to camp one night. AT&T coverage is a spotty in this area without a booster, typically only 1-2 Bars of 3G service and up to 0.05 MB/s. With our weboost we were able to get 3-4 bars of LTE, with speeds up to 0.5 MB/s. T-Mobile had 4 bars of 4G service, with speeds up to 1.5 MB/s. It was probably LTE, but our Solis X hotspot only delivers 4G. We were able to get DISH coverage on all three western satellites at our site. There were no OTA channels to be had with our fixed omni antenna.

There is a dirt road that goes past the CG, and looking at Google Maps (satellite), there appears to be dispersed camping along the river down there, but this is apparently private property with a locked gate barring entrance, at least while we were here. Some the locals/owners were camped there over the holiday weekend and got rather loud at times, firing guns and riding their ATVs back and forth on that road well into the night. The other nights were quiet. Also, one of their dogs, a white Husky mix, wandered all the way from their camp into ours and right up to our RV, and though probably friendly otherwise, nearly had an altercation with our dog.

First time Boondocking

This was such a beautiful place with the North Platte River right next to our site. We camped in our Honda Pilot and it was a great adventure. Apple directions were spot on and it wasn’t far from town at all. In the morning there were deer right next to the car. The sites have a fire pit and a picnic table. You don’t even need a site, just drive further down the road and park for the night. The toilet was nearby and as far as pit toilets go, it was clean. My husband said don’t post a review because it will get crowded but reviews are how we found it and that’s what this app is all about. I would come back again.

Secluded, nice scenery

Stayed for a 1 nighter as we traveled from CO up to Yellowstone.  Quite and peaceful.  Only 5 sites, first come first served.   The paved road on the back side of the Sinclare refinery leading up to it is pretty beat up, just be advised.    Not a ton to do there unless you fish. We just wanted a nice out of the way place for an overnighter.  This place delivered.

antelope at the dugway

nice place to stay. would not recommend tent camping, the area is covered in rough sage brush not ideal for tents. great free spot if you have a camper. as o pulled into my spot there was and antelope that hung out for about 30 minuets not 50 yards from me. also bring plenty of bug spray. Tons of mesquites unless there is a breeze.

Small and Private

Just 7 miles on a nice road off of Route 80. Great for an overnight stay, boondocking style. The beauty will have you coming back. Picnic tables, grills, garbage and restroom. FREE. There are only 5 sites, plus the group site. On the night we stayed eventually 4 out of the 5 filled up.
