Fremont Lake
Absolutely breathtaking. What a paid campground should be - but still $15
We camp a LOT now that my husband is retired, so it is not for nothing when I say this is the most beautiful, best maintained campground we have ever been in. Many National Forest campgrounds are seriously underrated, but this one...
Campsites are huge, wooded and well-separated. Pit toilets only, but they are placed fairly frequently, are new and clean (considering.) Some campsites are fully paved, some are gravel and many are pull-through. Individual sites vary in terms of being level, but it wasn't difficult to find a level site. Water is available in the summer, but had been turned off for the season as of October 1.
Not every site has a view of the lake, but many do - and a beautiful view it is. The lake is pristinely clean, and there are lovely little beaches all along its edge.
The only concern we had was that we couldn't find closing information - all it says on the site is "Memorial Day." Some locals assured us that gates aren't closed until November, but we saw "Mid-October" online...
