    Spread Creek Dispersed Campground

    Spacious secluded sites and loving more

    This area is exceptionally beautiful; we observed a family of deer grazing in the field during our departure this morning. The spots located towards the back are sparse, which presents both advantages and disadvantages. We ended up camping at site 9 with another group that was already present, after obtaining their permission. In the morning, we explored the creek, and the dogs thoroughly enjoyed their time here.

    At the back, there is a loop featuring only a few sites, specifically#7-13, if I recall correctly. The road on the left leads to sites#7-9, which are quite distanced from one another. The road on the right, which I would recommend for those with 4WD, accommodates sites#10-13. Since we opted for the left path, we did not explore sports the right road.

    The back sites may lack significant views, but their surrounding areas are quite attractive. The front sites also appear to be fairly spread out, except for the gravel area. The gravel spot offers the best view of the Teton Mountain Range, although you may find yourself camping in close proximity to others.

    Nights in mid-September can be quite chilly. Our truck registered a temperature of 34 degrees at around 8 AM this morning.

    Big Sandy Reservoir

    Great spot for a break from the traveling grind

    Found the spot no problem. Not sure how many spots but the reservoir is very big with campers dispersed all around it so lots and lots of room. Probably 10 or more campers in sight and some out of sight, closest one to us was about 1000 yds or more away. Some fishermen came on Sunday morning at daybreak but just drove by our spot. Areas are pretty level, road ok, no major issues. Just a little washboard-y. It's September 6th, memorial day weekend and temps are high today of 77⁰. Got chilly last night, 47⁰ but being from Pennsylvania, didn't mind it at all. Climate is very dry as this is in what's considered the high desert, about an hour south Jackson and the grand tetons which you can easily see in the distance. Gets a little windy. Had some good gusts today. Had a mouse in the camper overnight in the garbage. Sites are probably about 2 miles off the main road. Can hear vehicles faintly but not anything that'll keep you awake. Can see wild mustangs about a 1000 yds away as I'm writing this. Great cell service, well with tmobile anyway. All in all, a great spot and would definitely stay here again.

    Grouse Mountain Basecamp on Forest Road 403

    Peaceful Great Views

    Turn on to 402 off of 16. Plenty of space with multiple spots with fantastic 360° views. Suitable for all size rigs. If you drive to the end there are 2 gates. The one on the right is private property. The one on the left is 403. We moved our 32ft RV to a spot past the gate after staying a few nights off 402 just for a change. Both are great locations!

    We stayed here for two nights at a rate of around $69.00 per night. The campsite at the KOA was nice, with friendly staff and a small store. There is a walking gate at the back that allows guests to cross the street for drinks and food. Right behind the park, there are two dining options: The Hanger Bar & Grill, which had poor service and bad food, and Chatter's Bar and Grill, known for good food and drinks. Please note that Chatter's is a local hangout and can get a bit rowdy. We had no issues during our visit, and the bartender was friendly.
