Big Hill Pond State Park is located in the southwestern part of McNairy County and encompasses 4,138 acres of timberland and hardwood bottomland. Cypress Creek and Tuscumbia River border the property. The flood plain, adjacent to the river and creek contains small oxbows and swampy areas which are desirable habitats for waterfowl, wildlife, and fish. 

Big Hill Pond highlights include the 70-foot observation tower that offers panoramic views of Travis McNatt Lake and the boardwalk that winds through Dismal Swamp. Guests visiting Big Hill Pond State Park enjoy camping, hiking, birding, mountain biking, fishing, and paddling on Big Hill Pond Lake in the summer. The park is home to thirty miles of overnight and day-use trails with four backpack trail shelters.

Pinecrest Camp and Retreat Center is conveniently located 35 minutes east of Memphis, TN, and just over an hour west of Jackson, TN. In 1962, the Presbytery of Memphis– now the Presbytery of the Mid-South(Presbyterian Church, U.S.A.)– purchased hundreds of acres in LaGrange, TN. The intention was to build a place set apart for Christian Education and fellowship, a place where people of all ages could stop to listen for God. Decades later, Pinecrest still lives into that mission, welcoming absolutely everybody. Truly. Everybody.

East Tennessee is home to a part of the oldest mountain range in the world, the Great Smoky Mountains. As the name suggests, the peaks are often shrouded in fog, but that doesn’t make the view from Clingmans Dome any less spectacular. At 6,643 feet, Clingmans Dome towers as the highest point in Tennessee and the third highest point east of the Mississippi River. Make sure to say hi to the hardcore hikers, many people hiking the entire Appalachian Trail will stop at this unforgettable lookout. 


A clear day at the dome observatory provides views as far as 100 miles. But explorers camping in Tennessee should plan on hiking their way up to the point, the roadway that leads to the observatory closes during inclement weather and from Dec. 1 to March 31 every year. 


If you’re camping with the kids and they’re looking for more occupation than your campsite offers, many of the natural attractions in Tennessee are also family friendly. Lookout Mountain is only minutes from Chattanooga and offers several world-famous sites like Rock City and the See Seven States point. 


All the mountain peak trails may leave the heights-averse camper less than enthused. But Tennessee has something for everyone. Also at Lookout Mountain, but plummeting beneath ground level, is where you’ll find Ruby Falls, the largest and deepest underground waterfall in the nation.

Campers can boat, fish, and waterski on the adjacent 47,500-acre (19,200 ha) Pickwick Lake. The park also features a swimming pool and miniature golf course making it a great camping option for families.

Shady Bluff A is located approximately 1 mile from the park entrance. It is a partially shaded, hike-in site with a water view. Your campsite features a 10 x 12 platform tent with a queen bed as well as a pop-up tent that can accommodate 4 additional campers. A picnic table, firepit and two Adirondack chairs are also included. Campers will have access to modern bathhouses for showers and restroom facilities. Campers looking to camp with friends or relatives can reserve sites A, B and/or C.

Enjoy beautiful views and pristine waters at this park on the banks Tennessee River and Pickwick Lake. JP Coleman is a camping getaway in NE Mississippi, just over an hour from Tupelo and about 2.5 hours from Memphis, TN and Birmingham, AL.

- Pack your own food, water, firewood, bedding, bug spray and flashlights
- There is no electricity, AC, or heater at your Tentrr site, pack accordingly
- Anything you pack in, you must pack out. This is "leave no trace" camping and all sites will be inspected for cleanliness and damages before the next camper 
- All trash MUST be deposited in the designated trash receptacle that is labeled on the map.Please notes : If you do not follow this rule, you will be charged a cleaning fee of at least $50
- Pets are allowed. Please keep all pets on leashes(we recommend 6 ft), and DO NOT let your pets near or swim in any bodies of water.

Peninsula D is located approximately 1.5 miles from the park entrance.  it is a wooded, shady hike-in campsite (approximately 250 hike-in). This double campsite is great for families, two couples or a group of friends as it can accommodate up to 12 campers. There are two safari platform tents, each with a queen bed and 2 pop-up tents which can accommodate up to 8 additional campers.  Picnic tables, 2 firepits and four Adirondack chairs are also included. Campers will have access to modern bathhouses for showers and restroom facilities.

Boat, fish and swim at this campsite in NE Mississippi. J.P. Coleman Park overlooks the Tennessee River and is adjacent to Pickwick Lake. Great weekend getaway for residents of Tupelo, Birmingham and Memphis.
