Gee Creek Campground

Located at the entrance to the Starr Mountain and Chestnut Mountain Horse Trails, this campground features 20 roomy campsites, each with a picnic table, fire ring, lantern post and horse hitching area (high line). The sites accommodate up to five people and 2 vehicles. There is a public water supply and vault toilet facilities.

82,000 acres of wild land on the upper Cumberland Plateau in both Morgan and Cumberland counties. This area offers some of the best hunting in East Tennessee! This area is home to deer, wild turkey, wild boar, fox squirrels, gray squirrels, ruffed grouse, raccoons, quail, rabbits, and mourning doves. For your fishermen, the game include smallmouth bass, rock bass, bluegill, and muskellunge.
Although the area is funded by hunters and fishermen, it is popular with all outdoor enthusiasts! Backpacking is very popular in the area, as well as whitewater rafting! The area has many deep cut canyons created by the rivers and streams, and offers access to beautiful scenery unlike anywhere else. The many trails allow access to the back country, but perhaps the best known path is the Cumberland Trail which passes through the area.

Overnight camping is allowed on designated areas. The area is closed to entry between sunset and sunrise.

Bi-Color Campground (Catoosa WMA) 

Young Branch Campground is situated near Citico Creek. It is one of Cherokee National Forest's two horse campgrounds. Visitors enjoy horseback riding, hiking, fishing and rafting. Recreation Young Branch is situated near the Little Citico Horse Trails, a system of more than 15 miles of trails that mostly follow old Forest Service and logging roads, along ridgelines and over creeks. Citico Creek offers plenty of fishing and rafting opportunities. Facilities This primitive campground has seven accessible, equestrian campsites available for reservations. Each site is equipped with a picnic table, grill and lantern post. Vault toilets are provided. No water or electric hookups are available. Horses may drink from Citico Creek. A corral and 25 horse stalls with feeding bins are provided. Horses must be kept in the corral, stalls or in trailers and are not permitted in campsites, tied to trees or in the grass. Manure must be placed in provided manure bins before departure. Natural Features The campground is set in a densely wooded area about 100 yards from Citico Creek, within the Cherokee National Forest in eastern Tennessee. The forest stretches from Chattanooga to Bristol, along the North Carolina border. Cherokee is Tennessee's only national forest. It covers 650,000 acres in the heart of the Southern Appalachians and is home to more than 20,000 species of plants and animals, as well as many rivers, creeks and lakes. Elevations range from 750 to 5,500 feet. Nearby Attractions Vonore, Tennessee is approximately 20 miles from the campground and makes for an interesting day trip for its rich Native American archeological history. You will find ample opportunities for fishing, horseback riding, camping, and hiking. With more than 20,000 acres of Wilderness in Citico Creek and Joyce Kilmer-Slickrock, this area provides ample opportunities for solitude and backcountry experiences. All 26,000 acres of Fall Creek Falls State Park contain some of Tennessee’s most rugged beauty. Sharing its moniker with the waterfall of the same name, numerous other falls can also be found cascading through the park including Cane Creek, Piney, and Virgin Falls. Hike through the Cumberland Plateau and enjoy exploring 56 miles of trails in the park, countless natural caves, and even an 18-hole golf course!

 Looking to rough it? You’re in luck. A strenuous four mile hike brings you to Virgin Falls, featuring 9 primitive campsites below the falls for the more adventurous camper. 

 For those seeking a less demanding camping experience, look no further. With over 220 campsites, camping at Fall Creek Falls State Park is a breeze and provides every luxury you could ask for. All sites come equipped with grills, water, tables, fire rings, and access to numerous bathhouses. Almost half of the sites have sewer connection and some will accommodate RVs up to 65 feet in length. Satisfy your every need at Fall Creek Falls!
