Clean and friendly owners
Great lake for fishing and paddling. Lake is made of 5 lobes, high speed boating is restricted on some of them.
During the height of the season place can be filled with loud and happy campers perhaps a little too happy.
Our family really enjoyed the scenery and the proximity to Charlevoix and Lake Michigan. Unfortunately we just couldn’t quite handle the level of mosquitos there. We found the site to be comfortable and well-kept. The walking trails are beautiful.
Nice clean Big lots, owners take pride in how this campground looks. Close to stores, tubing, able to ride atv/utv in and out.
Cycling dream trails
The campground is located just 3 miles from downtown Traverse City but feels remote. The sites are large, shaded by tall trees. East Bay beach is beautiful and you can swim or rent kayaks and stand up paddle boards right on the beach. The TART bike path on the opposite side of the campground is…
Good: general store, close to tubing, friendly owners, dogs allowed.
Bad: very small sites, very small "firepits", overpriced wood, unpaved.
This is a typical Michigan State Park. The facilities are well maintained and clean. On a nice lake with a good swim area. We stayed because of the location to Copper Harbor and the Porcupine Mountains.
For a campground wedged between a highway and railroad tracks, amazingly quiet (though there are small planes in the daytime). It’s crowded, make no mistake, but the sites are very large, and the tall pines dominate everything, so no baking in the sun. You can walk out the back to the nearby…

This first come, first served rustic state campground is perfect for the nature enthusiast. Butting up to Tomahawk Lake and surrounded by the Atlanta State Forest Area, you are close to Oqueoc Falls, hiking trails, and other natural wonders northern Michigan has to offer. Chipmunks are fearless, so…

I like the location; very secluded in the State Forest but only a half hour from downtown Traverse City. This facility meets the recreation need of a diverse cross section of Michigan residents. It’s a great home base or overnight camp for canoeists and kayakers (my particular interest). The camp…
This is a great horse camp. Have camped here many times. Pump water and river for horses. Manuer bunkers and solid poles for highline tying. Some cell phone reception but spotty.
Great facility and staff. Country club camping at its best. Motor homes, 5r and Travel Trailers. Beautiful grounds were well maintained. Very dog friendly.
