Pine trees and sandy soil define this compact campground within Holland State Park, where 211 sites accommodate both RVs and tent campers. The forested setting provides shade from mature pines, though campers should watch for exposed roots when setting up. Sites vary in size, with the eastern section offering more spacious accommodations than the tighter western sites.
Electric and water hookups serve RV campers, while a double dump station includes water fill stations with city water rather than well water. The recently renovated bathhouse features individual shower rooms separate from restroom facilities. Gerard E. notes the campground has "lots of pine trees and a fair amount of sun" despite the forested canopy.
Access to Lake Michigan comes via walking trails, positioning the campground as a base for beach activities and exploration of downtown Holland. The urban setting means road noise from nearby traffic, particularly noticeable on sites closer to main roads. Camp hosts maintain the grounds, and the facility includes amenities like fire pits, playgrounds, volleyball courts, and horseshoe pits. Reservations fill quickly during peak season, requiring advance planning for summer stays.
The compact layout and proximity to both Holland State Park Campgrounds and town amenities make this campground suitable for campers prioritizing convenience and beach access over secluded wilderness camping.
