Quiet little state park!

Nice secluded place! Very well kept. Facilities are clean and love that they recycle. Sites ate well spaced apart. Pretty level. Each site has lots of room to entertain or just sit out and enjoy the wilderness. Water, electric, firepit and picnic tables at each site as well. Not too many large site…

Relaxing 😊

when we arrived my fiancé & I didn’t realize the time change. So unfortunately we woke them up. But thank goodness they they didn’t hold it against us. Lol! On our first day we left somethings out & Pete was so nice to put them in our tent for us, because we didn’t realize it was going to…

Perfect Tent Camp Experience

The tent camp sites on the island were aptly distanced from one another. The other campers seemed to have an unspoken sense of support. Multiple people offered ice, and even campground host offered to air up air mattresses.

There was plenty of driftwood on site to burn, but if you're going to…

Beautiful eyes and quiet

We were hear on Labor Day weekend and really enjoyed it. It is quiet and our site was relatively private. Cool stuff to do nearby, hiking, overlooks and old mining community. We stayed at site 13 it is near a small pond and was quiet. Sites 20,21 &22 looked even more secluded. Will be…

Litter Ruins Great Spot

We needed a spot for Labor Day weekend and discovered Barren Fork Horse Camp in Daniel Boone National Forest near Whitley, KY. There are lots of great hikes and natural bridges in the area to check out. We had no problem finding a site. The biggest negative is the amount of trash that was left in…

Heed the warnings about the southern entrance

We didn't and ended up driving an extra hour to get to the campground.

Our only complaint is the site was not level. When we were able to get the camper level the tongue was 40" high. We had to borrow 6 8X8 blocks from the Rangers in order to stabilize the front

Other than that, we enjoyed the…

One of my first State Parks

This is the first State Park I visited in the mid sixties. Great place for a family reunion. There is a small swimming area that is kid friendly, Canoes and kayaks are available. Fishing is allowed with license

There are numerous cabins and lodges. Covered pavilions can be rented for large…

Clean

Bathrooms were clean and convenient. Sites were a bit dirty from previous campers, and there wasn’t much room to park a car- the host told us to just park in another camp site because you could t park at your site without blocking the road.

Very quiet and secluded.

Camp sites are well spread out. Most of the sites are well shaded. There are no outside lights after dark. RV pads are paved and each sites has fairly large gravel pad as well as grass areas. We did not have a chance to check out any of the trails but I think access to them was well outside of…

Big park

Nice park on lake Cumberland. VERY busy in season. Doubt you'd get in without reservations. Bath houses available but we didn't check them out. Not the most level sites, but not too difficult to get leveled out. Would stay here again.
