A self-service campground right off a main highway, Fenton sits within Land Between the Lakes and gives access to both a boat dock and nearby trails. Sites are first-come, first-served, with payment handled through an honor-system kiosk. The campground accepts rigs up to 54 feet, though reviewers note the sites run shallow, which can make maneuvering longer trailers difficult. Many sites have electric hookups. No reservations are needed.
Site conditions vary. Gravel pads contain some large, sharp rocks that tent campers should account for when planning their setup. Several sites are not level, and some have shown signs of litter left by previous campers. The vault toilet at one end of the campground is serviced regularly, though the nearest water spigot sits roughly a half mile away. Highway noise, including traffic crossing a nearby bridge, carries through the campground day and night and may affect light sleepers.
The campground borders a swimming area and a boat launch, with a pavilion located about a hundred feet from the campsites. Trails run through the area, though wet conditions can leave them muddy. "Vault restrooms were clean, trails were nice," one camper noted after a last-minute stop. Cell service is available. Nightly rates have been reported at $25. Campers who prefer full hookups and more developed facilities may want to look at Ken Lake State Park, about 1.7 miles to the west.
