With six sites and $15 nightly fees, Alum Ford Campground sits within Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area along the Cumberland River. Each site includes a picnic table, bear box, tent pad, and fire ring, with pit toilets serving the small campground. A co-located boat ramp brings loading activity that can continue past midnight, though the campground itself sees light use even on weekends.
The campground connects to hiking opportunities via a cliff-face trail leading to the boat ramp and a trailhead accessing Yamacraw Bridge and the Sheltowee Trace. Campers report clean facilities despite the campground's age, and rangers maintain regular presence. The forested setting provides a base for exploring Yahoo Falls and other area attractions, though pet-friendly campgrounds around Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area offer additional options for those traveling with dogs.
