Nice

We were initially assigned to site number 10 which was small but fine because we were tent camping. After a quick set up we started walking around and found site number 16 open by the water with a breeze. We drove up to the front confirmed availability and moved camp. Keep in mind this is not the…

Love State Parks

Facilities and campsites were nice. I was impressed with how well the campsites drained as we went during the rainy season. The trails were wet and the river a little too high to do much kayaking. It would have been nice if the hiking trails had more signs.

Quiet, clean, and beautiful in Blackwater River State Forest.

I love this campground. The amenities, the lake, and the beautiful nature trails make this place special. All of the campsites are shaded by tall long leaf pines. Both the Sweetwater Trail and the Bear Lake Trail are part of the Forest Service's Trailwalker Program.

  • Trail marker. Sweetwater trail to the left, Bear Lake trail to the right.

Best beaches in US plus a lake

Grayton Beach is only one gem along 30 A. Huge park with hiking trails, kayaking, and sunsets to die for! We can't get enough of the fun, sun and hospitality of the panhandle. Sites have water and power. Sandy, large and somewhat secluded. Bring everything you need because no onsite store or even…

Perfect

We camped in hammocks and used the tent platform for our canopy to cover our food and gear. The view was beautiful to wake up to in the morning. Very quiet. Kayak rentals

Priced Right

Price is right for this campground. 1 Dump location. Saw 3 snakes in 3 days. Beach was closed w/no access early 2021. Bath houses were clean. High water on many campsites when it rained.

Nice quiet basic campground

For those campers who enjoy a more basic less touristy campground, this one is great. Has rv hookup sights, bath houses and laundry facilities. But no facilities like crowded pools, game rooms, etc. Park rangers are great and always had very helpful camp hosts. Best step above primitive camping…

clean and convenient

Easy on/off of I-10.  Friendly, helpful staff.  Plenty of pull throughs.  Some pads are dirt, some gravel, some concrete.  They appear to be adding gravel to un-occupied sites.  The camp rules (cloth lines, pet pens) are clearly not enforced

Not great, but not horrible.

This KOA isn't the greatest but it isn't one of the worst I've stayed at. I'd stay again, but only if there wasn't camping availability around the area except for here.

Pros: Location on the bay - 👌 Pool/hot to on site Close to fuel stations Close to main roads to get you where you want to go…

Quiet and well-maintained campground

The campground is technically not in a traditional beach such as Miramar or Clearwater; rather, it’s a small bay front area with a small man-made beach area adjacent a pier out into the bay. The campground is well-maintained except for the ant mounds around all the sites. The water in the bay is…

Mixed Feelings

The Hideaway Retreat is a quirky little place tucked between the Santa Rosa Sound and Navarre Hwy. I can’t say it was a horrible stay - there are some nice features: you are pretty much right on the water and the depth and calmness are perfect for younger children and parents who want to…
