Best RV Parks & Resorts near Englewood, FL

Spacious RV sites line the coastal areas around Englewood, where many parks accommodate rigs up to 45 feet long. The campgrounds here typically have concrete or gravel pads that keep your rig level without much effort. Most places offer full hookups with water, sewer, and both 30-amp and 50-amp electrical connections depending on what your RV needs. Pull-through sites are common at several parks, which helps when you're driving a larger motorhome or towing a fifth wheel. The roads in Englewood are generally good for big rigs, with few low-hanging branches or tight turns to worry about. Dump stations are available at most campgrounds if you're staying at a site without sewer hookups. Many RV spots come with fire rings and picnic tables right next to your pad, giving you a nice outdoor setup. Quiet hours and generator rules vary between parks, but most follow standard evening cutoff times. You'll want to book well ahead in winter months when snowbirds fill these campgrounds. Each park has different length restrictions, so it's worth calling ahead to make sure your rig will fit. From most Englewood RV parks, you can easily drive to beaches, restaurants, and shops within 15-20 minutes. The nearest grocery stores and gas stations with diesel are usually within 5-10 minutes of most campgrounds.

Palmetto Ridge Campground — Myakka River State Park

    Enormous park

I’m staying in the Palmetto Ridge loop which is the only paved loop & I think the only one w/sewer. The Big Flats & Old Prairie loops are gravel road, tight, no privacy & very small sites like for popups, vans or small campers. The Palmetto Ridge pull thrus are gigantic. I would say the vegetation gives semi privacy but they aren’t on top of each other so it’s not like you’re looking right at your neighbor. There is a picnic table & a fire ring. Gravel sites but pretty level. My site was 50 amp. Not sure how many are. Bath house & laundry facility appears clean. Pet friendly. The outpost is literally like 3 miles into the park down from the entrance & Palmetto loop. The store was nice & there was a food truck. It was a little spendy but good food. The river was low so the kayak rental & boat tours were shut down. Tons of great hiking & even some elevated bridges for site seeing. Tons of gators, birds, deer etc. There is also a scenic drive in the park, a “fisherman’s loop” & a few picnic areas. There are cabins to rent but I didn’t see them. Also never saw a playground if you have kids. Very dark & quiet at night.

    Sea Isle Resort

    Convenient to Matlacha

Our stay here was a bit weird. Since it was March in Florida (and nearly impossible to find available campsites unless you reserved 11 months in advance), we called ahead to see if there was room. When Carl learned we only had a 17-foot camper van, he agreed to “fit us in”. Yes, there was a slot that we backed into and we had room to erect our screen room on the concrete pad next to our van but there was absolutely NO privacy between sites. Many of the people here were long-term residents and not generally vacationing campers. Although information says the rates range from $30-$60 per night, we paid $50, cash only. There were no restrooms on-site, but we were able to use the clean restrooms at the county park across the street (but had to make a mad dash across the busy road to get there). It suited our needs for two nights to enjoy small and quirky Matlacha, including walking distance to kayaking opportunities, but we wouldn’t choose to stay here again.

    Horseshoe Cove RV Resort

    Great short or long stay

I live local and have been staying here in the pull through area a month until I transition to 100% travel trailer life. I have 2 50 lb+ dogs and there are many other people with dogs, plus a dog park. Park is very well kept, beautiful gym, pool, hot tub, and private island on backside to fish and other games like horseshoes. Love this place! Maintenance is A M A Z I N G!!!!!!!! I will be staying here again for short and extended periods and feel more than comfortable to recommend to friends and family. Laundry facilities and bathrooms are fine too. Dryers dry a full load of towels in one cycle, was pretty impressive! Also plenty of area to ride a bike a couple times around the park. It is also close to gas, grocery store and really good restaurants. Two thumbs up!!!

    Myakka River RV Resort

    Low Key Campground

We stayed here for a week and overall it’s a solid, no frills place to stay. Level & compact sites with concrete patio pads. Our site backed right up to the marsh, which had a lot of birds & wildlife. There’s a pool, laundry, fenced dog area, and WiFi (for an extra fee). Verizon cell service was solid & always had connection. Mostly long term residents here but they are really friendly & helpful.

    Koreshan State Park Campground

Our favorite place close to home

We camp Koreshan because it is literally less than 10 minutes from our house. We can set up camp and stay throughput the week even if the kids have school. It’s hard to book a weekend at any Florida campground in season so plan ahead if you want a Florida State park. This campground has short trails to hike through beautiful bamboo forests. A ramp for putting in your kayaks or SUPs as well as kayak rental. Locations to fish the river. You are a 20 minute drive to the beach from here. Very centrally located to shopping and farmers markets. Koreshan has a farmers market there at the park I believe on Sundays. The campsites have a fire pit and wood is sold at the entrance. It is a historic site of the early settlers of the area from the late 1800’s so there are historical buildings on site to tour. It is a pet friendly campground. The only reason I give this campground 4* rather than 5 is because of the road noise from Hwy 41 that it is off. It’s quite peaceful until you get a motorcycle racing up and down the highway at 2am. They do have specific sites if you wish to camp in hammocks. If you google the campground you should be able to find out which sites those are.

    W.P. Franklin N

    Great getaway

Clean, well-maintained campground consisting of 30 spots spread out along the edges of a boomerang-shaped island. All except for 3 sites are waterfront. Sites 22-30 and 8 boat slips are on the South end with a large parking area, boat launch, picnic area, and bath house. On the North end there is a larger bath house and picnic area along with sites 1-21. There are a few drive thru sites (11 & 19-22) and the rest are nicely angled. The concrete parking pads are level and the pea gravel is well tended. All sites have 30/50 amp electric, water, covered picnic table, and fire pit. No sewer at the sites. Dump station near the exit. There isn't much shade due to immature trees and palms. Nice fishing pier and a lending library near the middle. For kayakers the launch ramp is good and some sites on the inland side have good slope and shallow water to launch from directly. Sites facing the river are in the restricted waterway area near the locks so no boats are allowed. This is a nice quiet place to decompress.

    Canoe Outpost Little Manatee River

Decent spot. If you want privacy and primitive, it’s not the spot

So I grew up camping a lot and like to be more primitive/ private. The campsites are close together, with little privacy. It’s also located right off the highway, so you get all the noise. All day and all night.

Now, for canoe and kayak trips, I guess it’s a good spot. There’s a lot of folk that come just for that. The staff is very friendly. They drive around maybe once a couple of hours. They are pet friendly. A long as your pup isn’t running around the whole property. I’m pretty sure every site has water and electricity.

    Craig's RV Park

    Very friendly residents and staff

This is a campground for long-term campers. There are many snowbirds who spend winters here. Between a third and half of the sites are permanent campers. There are tons of activities for campers including dances, community dinners, bingo, monthly bluegrass concerts, shuffleboard, pool, cards, horseshoes, bocce ball, a driving range and walking/biking track, and much more. There is a laundromat and shower building and a nice, screened swimming pool. A wonderful place!

Guide to Englewood

RV camping near Englewood, Florida offers easy access to the Gulf Coast beaches while providing comfortable lodging options. The area sits on relatively flat terrain with an average elevation of less than 10 feet above sea level, resulting in good drainage at many campgrounds except during heavy rain events. Most Englewood camping areas remain open year-round, though summer temperatures regularly exceed 90°F with high humidity levels.

What to do

Kayaking on Myakka River: Launch directly from Encore Ramblers Rest RV Campground in Venice, where the property connects to the river. "If you like to kayak, this is the place for you. Right on the river. Very nice," notes Reginald V., who stayed for a month.

Beach exploration on Venice Beach: Located 10 miles from Encore Royal Coachman, Venice Beach offers unique fossil hunting. "Venice is a favorite small florida city, famous for its beaches full of fossilized sharks teeth, Sharky's fishing pier, interesting jetty's," explains Marcia T.

Swimming in resort pools: Many campgrounds feature heated pools with extended hours. At Sun N Fun RV Resort, "The kids enjoyed the slide (limited hours…ask ahead), and the warm pool was refreshing," according to Joe R., who adds that food options are available at the pool.

What campers like

Community activities and recreation: Many Englewood area RV parks offer extensive recreational facilities. "They have a huge pool, pickle ball, tennis, mini golf, basketball, and kayaks. It is also a dog friendly campground," writes Kristen W. about Encore Royal Coachman.

Wildlife viewing opportunities: Campgrounds often feature ponds or natural areas with Florida wildlife. William R., who stayed at Pleasant Lake RV Resort, appreciated "the easternmost edge of the property and we enjoyed the shade every morning (kind of a rarity in Florida)."

Extended-stay options: Many campers choose Englewood for longer winter stays. "We stayed for 3 weeks while visiting family in the Sarasota area. Despite Covid-19, there was still plenty to do," says Molly F. about Sun N Fun, adding that "Seemed the long term folks didn't mind us temporary people hanging around (which is not always the case)."

What you should know

Site spacing varies considerably: Many parks have tight spacing between units. At Encore Harbor Lakes, "They wedged us into a spot between two permanent trailers which was disappointing, especially since there were open spots available," explains Lawrence Robert T.

Year-round residents create a different atmosphere: Unlike traditional campgrounds, many Englewood RV parks have permanent or seasonal residents. "The resort was mixed in with full timers and mobile homes. The rvs were shoved in between these homes and permanent spots," notes Alana F. about Harbor Lakes.

Flooding concerns in some areas: Low elevation can lead to water issues after heavy rain. At Ramblers Rest, Craig M. observed that "when it rains frequently (summer months) the ground tends to become saturated with water. Many times we had 2" plus of standing water outside of our RV."

Tips for camping with families

Pool restrictions vary by park: Check pool hours and rules before booking. "The kids enjoyed the slide (limited hours…ask ahead), and the warm pool was refreshing," advises Joe R. about Sun N Fun.

Consider noise levels near highways: Some parks back up to major roads. At Encore Winter Quarters Manatee, Millie D. notes that "the noise of the interstate is non-stop, and traffic in this area is really congested."

Book early for winter stays: Florida's high season fills campgrounds quickly. "You'll find more availability if you visit during summer or fall months," though one camper mentioned that "we booked this site 60 days ago for longer BUT left early as it was so bad."

Tips from RVers

Electrical connections vary in quality: Check your hookups carefully upon arrival. At Ramblers Rest, Craig M. found that "the electrical and water connections needed maintenance while we were there. They were very worn out."

Low branches can be an issue: While main roads are generally clear, some campground roads have obstacles. Check ahead if you have a tall rig, as several parks have mature oak trees with lower branches.

Interior roads may be narrow: Navigation within parks can be challenging for larger motorhomes. Rich D. warns about "One lane roads with 2 way traffic. If you have a big rig, it will be tight" at Winter Quarters Manatee.
