First off, the 200+ sites are mostly permanent trailers/houses. The sites available to campers with full hookups are occupied mostly by snowbirds staying for months. There are 16 sites on the “island” with water and electric. The dump station is close, but not bothersome. Plenty to do here…

Great campground

We stayed at Hillsborough at site 031 which was right next to the kayak launch. There was not a lot of traffic which was a concern of mine. There’s plenty of short trails for easy hiking. The campground is wooded with spacious sites and privacy. Kayaking on the river was amazing. Lots of local…

Perfect Campground

Nice, friendly campground. It has all of the amenities you would ever want and is so close to Florida beaches. Pool, hot tub, store, workout room, fishing and kayaking and lots more to do right in the park.

Winter is the best time to visit !

We loved how close this was to Tampa yet it felt like you were miles away from it all . I can see how summer would be tough here as mentioned in other reviews.. wet would be my guess , so a winter visit is favorable. Tye hiking trails were amazing and we saw tons of wildlife. Gators on the trail…

Stunning Campground Big rig friendly

Stayed in site 112 and had a great time. The campground was spectacular we even saw dolphins right next to the campground check in and camp store. We will be back. Our rig is 37 feet overall length.

I can’t say enough about the MacDill operation.. everything from checkin to checkout was perfect! The tent area is large and almost 100% shaded , The white sand beach is steps away and had the most amazing sunsets . I loved everything about our stay including the patriotism of every camper there…

Nice spot with a few cons

Awesome location, site was right off the water, with beautiful sunrises. The amenities were very nice, staff was great and had nice fishing pier. The grounds were under renovation, and new sites and cabins were gorgeous. Our site was older, but level. Some cracking on old slab, and dirty. Hook…

Beautiful and Close to the Water

Like the area but just a little far from the beach. Like the little privacy you get from the vegetation separating the camp sites

Home away from home

I have been a regular here for some time. It is definitely more glamping than anything but always a fun stay and the staff is always kind.

Everything you could ever need to be comfortable camping and easygoing including a convenience store to free wi-fi. There’s a massive pool and two hot tubs.…

Beach camping

This is a great place to stay if you’re not local. It felt like I was sleeping in my own backyard for the most part.

I made reservations for a waterfront site just to end up far back from the water and the view being mostly blocked by trees and bushes.

The site was slightly flooded from rain…

Yankee traveler review

A little concerned at first when I first pulled in about how small the sites were, they escorted us back to out site for big rigs. These sites were much bigger! Our site backed up to a pond and people were very friendly, staff was friendly and attentive. I would definitely come back again!

Hidden Gem

After a simple on-line reservation and finding someone at the Publix, across the road, to show me where the entrance was, I couldn’t believe how nice it was for a free camp spot. I stayed in the primitive side, where there was only 3 sites and I had so much privacy. It was so quiet, I only heard an…

Serene and Natural

Short boat ride out to what felt like a secluded island, back when florida was all natural. We had the whole place to ourselves. Camping is definitely pack in pack out. It's worth every minute to see the sun rise and set in the same day, and the stars at night were endless
