Best Campgrounds near Boca Raton, FL

Campgrounds near Boca Raton, Florida primarily consist of established facilities rather than dispersed camping areas, reflecting the urban and suburban nature of South Florida. The region includes several RV-focused parks like Del Raton RV Park and Bee Healthy Honey Farms, along with county-operated campgrounds such as Quiet Waters Park and Easterlin Park that accommodate tent campers. Most facilities are located within a 30-mile radius of Boca Raton, offering various levels of amenities and site types ranging from basic tent platforms to full-hookup RV spaces and even glamping options.

Access to camping areas remains consistent year-round due to South Florida's tropical climate, though summer brings higher humidity, frequent afternoon thunderstorms, and mosquito activity. Many campgrounds require reservations, particularly during the winter months (December through March) when seasonal visitors from northern states and Canada significantly increase demand. Most established sites provide water and electric hookups, with several offering full sewer connections for RVs. Public parks like Markham Park Campground and John Prince Park Campground balance natural settings with urban convenience. A visitor noted, "While scoring criteria may vary from one person to the next, here are the 5 most important criteria that informed my rating of this overnight location: convenience, safety & security, quality of facilities, peace & quiet and amenities."

Campers report mixed experiences regarding noise levels at campgrounds in this metropolitan area. Several visitors mentioned highway and train noise as drawbacks at otherwise well-maintained facilities. Easterlin Park receives praise for its "nice level paved sites" and "fairly private" camping areas, but reviews consistently mention the "train, plane and traffic noise was nonstop and very loud." The privately-owned Aztec RV Resort stands out as a luxury option exclusively for Class A motorhomes, with one camper describing it as "one of the nicest RV resorts I've ever seen, the lots were spacious and incredibly well maintained." Urban camping options also extend to some retail parking lots, though policies vary widely and several locations explicitly prohibit overnight stays. Mixed-use campgrounds that combine recreational facilities with camping areas are common in this region.

West Palm Beach-Lion Country Safari KOA

    Pros & cons

The campground is pretty tight & the sites aren’t very attractive but being next to the safari is awesome! You can hear the lions loud & clear!! The staff was nice. Close to groceries and gas stations.

    Topeekeegee Yugnee Park Campground

    Great Park

Clean park friendly staff. Great amenities. There are not many downsides two that I want to discuss. The campground does sit next to a train track i believe its a commuter line so there is an early train 4am which is startling. Other downside is park closes at 8, you can still enter through the exit gate until midnight and then have to call security to get in/out.

    Markham Park Campground

A Great Stay at Markham Park!

I stayed at Markham Park on July 28 and had a wonderful experience. The campground is well-maintained, peaceful, and offers plenty of space between sites, giving a nice sense of privacy. The park itself is beautiful, with lots of shaded areas, clean facilities, and easy access to nature trails, bike paths, and water activities.

What I loved most was how much there is to do right on site—whether you enjoy kayaking, fishing, mountain biking, or just relaxing by your campsite, this park has it all. The staff was friendly and helpful, and check-in was quick and easy.

Overall, Markham Park is a perfect spot for a quick getaway or a longer camping trip. I’ll definitely be coming back!

    Pahokee Marina & Campground

    Stunning Views, But Needs Improvements

This campground offers one of the best lakefront views in all of Florida—truly a hidden gem if you’re looking to camp right on the water. The sunsets over Lake Okeechobee are absolutely breathtaking and unlike anywhere else in the state.

The campground does include a pool, which is a nice touch, but unfortunately the amenities are quite limited. The office is closed on Sundays, so plan ahead if you need assistance or have questions during your stay.

The biggest downside was the condition of the restrooms—they were in very poor shape and had a strong, unpleasant odor. This definitely impacted the overall experience.

With a little maintenance and more attention to guest services, this place could easily be a five-star destination. For now, come for the view, but manage your expectations for everything else.

Pine Grove Campground — Jonathan Dickinson State Park

Nice place but lack of shade

The campground is amazing, but due to not having many trees we don’t have shade in the campsites. Just one another have trees, unfortunately. Coming in the summer was a bit tough staying here without an RV with air conditioning. Despite that, everything amazing! Bathrooms super clean, campsites in perfect conditions and so on. Another good thing is that it is close to the city with a huge Publix nearby.

    Markham Park Campground

    Great for RVs

We are tent campers and feel a bit out of place around all the RVS. sewage and electrical connection available at sites, as well as water. The bathrooms are decent enough and locked with a door code. A bit crowded but close enough to civilization that it makes a great alternative to a hotel, although the price isn’t much difference $50/night). Lots to do in the park itself as well.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: Markham Park Campground features multiple fishing spots with deep water access. "We've got the water way right behind us with a wide open grassy area. Great for fishing or if you've got a jet ski you can easily get on and off right there. There are gators in the water which is much deeper than one would think."

Mountain biking trails: Several campgrounds maintain dedicated trails for cycling enthusiasts. "Great place to relax and bike ride," notes one visitor to Markham Park, which also features "nice mountain bike trails, lakes, woods, disc golf, flora and fauna."

Observatory visits: For nighttime activities, Markham Park offers educational stargazing. "Also has a nice observatory on saturday nights to visit," mentions a camper who described the park as a "perfect local getaway."

Water recreation: At Quiet Waters Park, visitors can enjoy various water activities. "My husband and I rented a campground flat in December. It was on the water, had a grill, electricity, fire pit, tent, running water and was pet friendly. We brought our kayaks and played around."

What campers like

Waterfront sites: John Prince Park Campground offers prime lake views. "Located on Lake Osborne in Lake Worth, Florida the John Prince Campground has many waterfront sites which contain both power and potable water. Being it was summertime here in Florida there were many available sites to choose from."

Park facilities: The extensive recreational options at John Prince Park receive positive reviews. "This Palm Beach County campground and park offers you a lot of things to do. Miles of biking paths, fishing and paddling on Lake Osborne, some hiking trails, fitness pavilion and walking trail... all this with short and long term rv/tent camping spots ONLY 5 miles from the beach."

Privacy elements: Easterlin Park Campground provides more secluded sites. "Clean & well maintained, nice level paved sites, fairly private, lots of shade." The park is described as "a true escape from the hustle and bustle of South Florida life."

Native flora: Easterlin Park gets praise for its natural setting. "This park is a true escape from the hustle and bustle of South Florida life. Calm and serene park with plenty of activities to enjoy with friends and family."

What you should know

Urban noise factors: While offering good facilities, many campsites experience noise from surrounding development. At Easterlin Park, "train, plane and traffic noise was nonstop and very loud." Another camper noted the area has "noise from I-95 and occasional train."

Site dimensions: Paradise Island RV Resort provides adequate space between units. "This is an older campground with a lot of full-time RVers. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and will do whatever they can to make you satisfied. This is a campground in the middle of the city, so don't expect a lot of quiet, as this is how it is in a city."

Seasonal booking requirements: Peak winter months require advanced planning. A camper at John Prince Park noted, "I was going to rent there, but it was so crowded that we would not be able to open our awnings and we were only allowed 1 car per spot. You have to pay $6.00 a day to park your car in a lot that is some distance away. This of course is in season."

Language considerations: Some parks host international visitors. One camper at Breezy Hill RV Resort noted, "Very large population of french speaking Canadians. Most don't/won't speak english. Hard to make any friends if you don't speak french."

Tips for camping with families

Wildlife viewing options: Parks provide opportunities to observe local animals. At Davie/Fort Lauderdale KOA, "It had tropical flowers and plants and was right across from the pound. My grandson loved looking at and feeding the ducks and turtles. It is across the street from a massive park that is perfect for all family members. If you go to the park, make sure you see the burrowing owls."

Playground access: Several parks maintain dedicated children's areas. According to one visitor, Markham Park is a "great campsite for all ages" with "plenty of picnic tables, a path to the lake, and woods to explore via trails."

Pool availability: Family-friendly water features help manage Florida heat. Paradise Island RV Resort receives praise for its water amenities: "Campground in the city, great guest services, friendly staff. Near grocery store, and everything! Full hookup sites, spots are big and concrete roads, amenities like restrooms and showers are clean, the pool is nice!"

Nature discovery: Many campgrounds incorporate educational elements. One Markham Park visitor noted, "The section is designated 'primitive' but it does have full single person male & female restrooms, as well as electricity and water. It has plenty of picnic tables, a path to the lake, and woods to explore via trails. There are some pretty interesting pieces of history leftover behind the camping field."

Tips from RVers

Hookup locations: Site layout varies between campgrounds. At one campsite near Boca Raton, a camper noted, "All utilities hookups are at the rear of site A16."

Water pressure considerations: Bee Healthy Honey Farms and other locations may have infrastructure limitations. "Water pressure is sub-par. I changed my filter and still had issues," reported one RVer at Del Raton RV Park.

Site angles: Many parks design pull-through access with angled sites. "Most sites are angled. Easy in and out," noted a camper at Del Raton RV Park, which features "nice concrete patio and gravel sites."

Specialized resorts: Class A motorhome owners have dedicated luxury options. A visitor to Aztec RV Resort described it as having "the lots were spacious and incredibly well maintained" and called it "one of the nicest RV resorts I've ever seen."
