Quiet. Had a nice spot right on the water. Shower/bathhouse was large and clean. Employees were EVERYWHERE and willing to help. Nice pool and lots to do if you are inclined. Gravel site but lovely nick patio with table and chairs, swinging bench and fire pit.
Always a nice camp with multiple access hike in points. Check for scheduled hunts, hunters do not like hikers even though Florida trail is open year round. 5 minute walk from river if you need drinking water. Make sure to filter and watch for gators.
We stayed at Quail Run for a weekend in October as it was close to my son’s lacrosse practice location… we were pleasantly surprised with the very nice site with full hook ups and cable. The park is secluded and away from highway noise. Very nice community center/hall/game room/activity center. Also close to the location are stores and restaurants.
We spent a night in Little Manatee River State Park, and were pretty happy with how easy it was to access the trails, canoe launch, playground and bathroom. We’ve spent time at various state parks and sometimes the trailhead is so far from camp it takes longer to get there than it does to hike it (exaggerating here but you know what I mean!). We could easily access all that we needed to keep busy, and better yet, took advantage of it!
Tons of birds, butterflies and great views of the stars. Few tent campers but still, everyone was respectful and quiet. We will definitely be back once the cooler months come around again!
Hardee Lakes Park is a nice quiet park. Camp sites are nice and clean, with beautiful lake views.
Stayed at a non-electric site right on the lake. Fire pit is great and camp hosts even recommended a local small biz that will bring you firewood.
Trail system is great from dirt paths to boardwalks to cut straight through the woods.
Bath house was clean and in good working order.
Overall a great quiet place to visit for a connection with nature.
Need a reservation, there are just a handful of sites. Each has a fire ring and a table. Locked gate (you need a code they give you in your reservation confirmation) dirt road, easily accessible by motorcycle/car. Supermarket and several restaurants just across the main road. There is a bathroom, but we never went in. There is also equestrian camping across the road. Lots and lots of hiking options in this huge area White tee, on the map, shows where campground is, the rest is hiking trails. 4 instead of 5 only because there is no potable water.
This is one of the nicest campgrounds central Florida has to offer. Clean, well maintained, and friendly staff. They have daily activities at the rangers hut and go out of the way to keep the park on top shape. If you are one of the daring campers that camps in FL in the summer, there is not a lot of shade at the campsites yet.
