Hi! My name is Rafael Braune and I own this precious property at Groveland and I’m glad I can share this with you! If you are looking for a peaceful and quiet place our place is what you need. Bring your rv or tend, or stay in one of our rvs! We are located in a rural area of Groveland, in the Green Swamp area. We love camping, so we decided to have our own “campground” in our 50 acres property and share it with people who share our passion! Rural doesn’t have to mean far from everything. It’s true that we have no neighbors around but we are not away from everything: we are very close to Disney (around 30 minutes) and less than 10 minutes from grocery stores and restaurants. Feel free to fish in our private 15 acres pond! Wildlife can be seen everywhere! Cranes, deers, wild turkeys, hogs and more can be easily spotted. If you love nature and wildlife, you gonna love this place!

Spend your weekend - or a week or more - beneath the shady oaks at Clearwater Campground, a quiet oasis in the southeast corner of the Ocala National Forest. This 42-space campground provides breezy lakefront sites for camping at Clearwater Lake. It accommodates both trailers and tents, and has bathhouses with warm showers. Clearwater Lake camping guests can swim, grill up a steak, take a walk around the lake on the nature trail, go mountain biking on the Paisley Woods Bicycle Trail, take a hike on the Florida Trail, or just drift across the water in a kayak, trailing a line and waiting for a nibble.

Many people enjoy the solitude and primitive experience of dispersed camping - camping away from developed campgrounds and other campers with few services or facilities. Additional skills are necessary for a successful trip. It is your responsibility to know your limits and abilities before you try this experience. Certain rules and regulations will make your experience safe and ensure settings remain scenic and unspoiled.

Leave No Trace.
Be Bear Aware. 
Minimize Waste.
Pack it in, pack it out. Dispose of all garbage in proper receptacles.
Bury all human and pet waste at least 6 inches deep and at least 100 feet away from any water source.
Camp Considerately.
Dispersed camping is not allowed in the vicinity of developed recreation areas or less than 100 feet from streams and other water sources.
Pick a previously used site. Plants, soil and wildlife are impacted by new campsites.
Make your campsite less visible, so other visitors can experience a “wild” setting.
Avoid camping in the middle of a clearing or meadow.
Be aware of forest boundaries. Get permission before camping on private property.
Control your Campfire.
Do not camp in an area with campfire restrictions listed under Alerts & Notices and Forest Supervisor's Orders.
Use existing fire rings, fire pans or mound fires to minimize scarring rocks, soil and plants.
Gather and use down and dead firewood. Do not cut standing trees or limbs off standing trees.
Burn all wood and coals down to ashes.
Make sure campfires are dead out and cold to the touch before leaving. Douse them with water and stir with a shovel.
Know the Rules.
Generally, there is a 14-day per month stay limit on the National Forests in Florida. Establishing residency is against federal regulation.
Groups of over 75 people must obtain a special use permit from the nearest national forest office.
Pets are welcome in most areas but must be kept on a leash.
Camping is allowed only in designated campsites during general gun season, as defined in Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission regulations for the Wildlife Management Areas.

## Overview

River Forest is a shaded group camping facility on the shores of the St. Johns River in Ocala National Forest. Located just across the river from Deland, the site is popular for groups, family reunions and weddings and can accommodate up to 125 guests. 

## Recreation

This site is a great setting for groups to relax, picnic and enjoy the shade on a warm day. A large field offers ample space for activities such as softball, volleyball and horseshoe tossing.   
  
Visitors wanting to venture out of the picnic area can go for a long walk through floodplain forests and pine flatwoods on the St. Francis Trail, or head to the river to canoe, kayak or fish for bass.

## Facilities

All new facilities are the highlight of the River Forest Group Site. Facilities include a screened pavilion for food preparation and cooking with your own cook stoves. A new bathhouse has also been built on site.   
  
The camping area is flat for tents with some shade provided by trees. While RVs are welcome, there are no hookups and all vehicles must remain in the designated parking area. Grills and picnic tables are provided.

## Natural Features

The Ocala National Forest spans four counties and 383,000 acres. It is the southernmost and oldest national forest east of the Mississippi River and protects the world's largest contiguous sand pine scrub forest.   
  
The campground is shaded with large live oaks with a flat, grassy patch of land that leads to the St. Johns River.
