    We had a wonderful experience at the 4-year-old Terry Tomalin Campground

    We had a wonderful experience at the 4-year-old Terry Tomalin Campground! The tent sites are spacious and nicely spread out, giving you plenty of room to set up camp without feeling crowded by your neighbors. The campground has a peaceful, natural atmosphere that makes it easy to relax and enjoy being outdoors. There are 6 cabins also available with electric– no ac. 

    One of the things that really impressed us was the bathroom facilities. The restrooms and showers were very clean and well-maintained, which makes a huge difference when you’re tent camping. It was great to be able to enjoy a more primitive camping experience without giving up the convenience of a nice bathroom and shower. 

    The location next to Boyd Hill Nature Preserve is what really makes this campground special. Campers have access to the preserve’s pedestrian trails, making it easy to spend time exploring nature and then return to your campsite to relax. 

    Overall, Terry Tomalin Campground is a hidden gem in St. Petersburg and a fantastic place for anyone who enjoys tent camping and being surrounded by nature. We would definitely stay here again!

    Notes: Only open on weekends, no pets, strict rules against vaping and alcoholic beverages. This location is very busy in the summertime as there are not many camping options in the area. Large group fire pits (not at each site)

    Riverside Camping — Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area at Flagler Beach

    Beautiful and Peaceful

    Gamble Memorial RV Park was awesome. The park is very large the scenery is beautiful. They have a butterfly garden, a walking trail and a beach and river as side they Also have river to fish in. Washers and dryers are available. As well as a bath house. They have security as well as 2 camp host. I highly recommend camping at Gamble.

    Tomoka State Park Campground

    Great water access

    Nicely wooded sites. Has a boat launch, bike trail and very cool grounds with the Timucuan village site. Even a camp store.

    Camel Lake Campground

    No dump stations

    We arrived to no available water until the next day. Then there was no dump stations anywhere at or near the park. Electric and water (once water repaired) was available at the site we reserved. The showers was 1 stall with no hot water and the water only ran while you held the know on. The swim area has dried up alot over the years. Grill was clean and there was a fire pit, picnic table and lantern pole at the site. Site had plenty of room for large rv allowing the rv patio to be let down. Lots of green space near site.

    Manatee Hammock Campground

    Busy Park on the Indian River

    Some campsites are close but the nice dog park and the location near Kennedy Space Center made me not mind so much. Great place to watch launches. Staff is friendly and park facilities are well looked after. The tent sites are on grass but close enough to the river to get cooling breezes in hotter months.

    Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground

    Something a bit magical

    I know, I know, it’s not real camping. But I love it just the same. I love coming here even if I never step foot inside the theme parks. There plenty to do here. You can rent golf carts or bring your own. I love just driving around on the golf carts. They have campfires and trivia. Outside movies. The Trails End to get food at.

    Horse stables. Halloween time is the best time to come. I love looking at everyone’s decorations.

    Manatee Springs State Park Campground

    Spring is lovely

    Going when it’s super hot turned out to be a great idea! It was lovely to get into the cool water every afternoon and cool right off. We enjoyed paddle boarding also and seeing the alligators, fish and turtles. Had a great time!
