Lone Rock Beach Primitive Camping Area — Glen Canyon National Recreation Area
Primitive Beach Camping
This place is one of a kind. If you don't have 4 wheel drive, make sure you are careful not to get stuck in any deep/loose sand in you go down to camp closer to the water. You can park anywhere on the beach here, there are no official "sites". It is FCFS. We were able to get a spot with an existing stone "fire pit", and had a great fire at night. Lake Powell water levels were WAY down, however we did take a dip in the water - which was freezing, but refreshing. The views are phenomenal. Very peaceful place to stay. The bathrooms were well kept/maintained, and very clean. If you park closer to the water be prepared to have quite a walk to get to the bathroom through the sand. You would see every star in the sky at night - incredible! Wish we could have stayed another night here. There were people who were running generators during the day, which some people might find annoying, however quiet time was 10pm-6am and everyone seemed to obey that rule. Made for a peaceful night. Highly recommend this as long as you are OK without electricity or water. Can't beat the price for $14/night! I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
