Utah is primarily known for two things: its world-class skiing and winding slot canyons. But the Beehive State has much more to offer the outdoor enthusiast. It's home to five national parks and eight national monuments. And that's just the beginning. There is no shortage of exotic camping in Utah.


For desert dwellers, Monument Valley never disappoints. It’s the kind of place that leaves a person searching for meaning. When the sun dips below the monuments and the sky radiates with color, it’s easy to see why the Navajo people revere the land. Media buffs will also recognize the familiar landmarks from film and TV. Those visiting Bears Ears can see Monument Valley in the distance from campsites like Muley Point.


Campers who visit Goblin Valley get a unique experience. An amphitheater of bizarrely-shaped hoodoos greets visitors. Even though there are hoodoos all over Utah, none compare to the “goblins” in this state park. They make an excellent backdrop for photos, adventure, games, and soul-searching.


A worthy Utah destination is Zion National Park, growing more popular by the year. The etched canyon walls make a lasting impression, as they jut thousands of feet up from the earth. The sense of perspective visitors experience keeps them coming back. The Watchman campground is a popular choice for campers. It offers accessibility to trails, the Virgin River, a shuttle bus, and the adjacent town. 


Many will also make a trip to nearby Bryce Canyon National Park, to see the infamous spires. Staying at the North campground is a great way to see the best parts of the park.


It doesn’t take a road trip to go camping in Utah. The state capital, Salt Lake City, butts up against the Wasatch Mountains. Fifteen minutes up one of the canyons is all it takes to trade city noise for alpine meadows and lakes. In the summer, Albion Basin blooms with color. Red Pine Lake is a secluded campsite with two lakes and frequent wildlife sightings.


For a different kind of mountain experience, the Uinta Mountains aren’t much farther. They’re the only mountain range in the contiguous US that runs east-west. Still part of the Rockies, they’re Utah’s highest range, with King’s Peak topping out at 13,528 feet. Most of the camping is dispersed, but Mirror Lake is a great campground right off the main scenic highway.


There’s something for everyone in the great state of Utah. From the desert climate to the fresh mountain air; unique experiences found only in the land of Zion. With nooks and crannies waiting to be explored, camping in Utah is, indeed, life elevated.

A pine tree farm was active prior to us purchasing the land, so lots of beautiful trees. A couple ponds stocked with large mouth bass. A Zipline, WIBIT, water slide, a field of hay, and continued improvements to make it into a Swell Retreat!!!

We are a great spot to stay and have onsite a zip line into Lake Elevate, water slide into the pond, adventure island, zipline, kayaking, paddle boarding,

catch and release fishing, and close to all fun in the San Rafael Swell.

20 min or so from three reservoirs for additional fishing, swimming and motor boating, 30 minutes from the Little Grand Canyon for breathtaking views, hiking and mountain biking, petroglyphs and the San Rafael Swell river to float on, 60 minutes from Goblin Valley, within 60 minutes to multiple slot canyons: Little Wild Horse Canyon, Muddy Creek, The Chute (similar to Zion National Park), Baptist Draw, to name a few.

Mountain fun for rock climbing just up the road in Joe's Valley, hiking, biking, fishing, etc. We would love to have you stay on our little farm while you enjoy the fun of the San Rafael Swell adventures.

The new Grand Staircase/Escalante National Monument is nearby as well. Enjoy, most of all, our spectacular sunrises and sunsets as well as quiet, starry night skies undistorted by city lights.

Welcome to Capitol Reef Country! Road to the Sun Ranch is located in beautiful Grover, Utah (elev 7,100') along Scenic Highway 12 near the base of Boulder Mountain, 6 miles from the quaint town of Torrey and a short 15 mile drive from Capitol Reef National Park. We are surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery anywhere and our location provides travelers with an ideal base camp for exploring the natural wonders of this region of Southern Utah. The property consists of mostly pasture land, desert sage, pinyon pine trees & panoramic mountain views. The surrounding area offers amazing scenery and endless outdoor opportunities! We have a single (self check-in) RV/trailer parking space complete with water, power, sewer, WiFi & picnic table. All guests must have their own bathroom, clean up after pets and pack out any trash. Max trailer length is 28'. Max RV length is 35'. The site is available seasonally from April 1st - October 31st. Sorry, no tent/car camping or fires.

Frying Pan Campground is located on the Fishlake Scenic Byway in central Utah, just 3 miles north of Fish Lake, at an elevation of 9,000 feet. Visitors enjoy boating, fishing and exploring local trails.

## Recreation

Fish Lake is Utah's largest natural mountain lake and covers 2,500 acres. It is famous for its 20-40 pound Mackinaw lake trout. Anglers also enjoy fishing for rainbow trout and splake. Boating, canoeing, swimming and scuba diving are popular activities.  
  
The scenic Lakeshore National Recreation Trail extends around the eastern side of the lake. Hikers are rewarded with stunning lake views after climbing 900 feet in elevation.

## Facilities

The campground contains one group site that can accommodate up to 100 people, with picnic tables, a campfire ring and large parking area. Several single-family sites are available as well. Flush toilets and drinking water are provided. Roads and parking spurs are paved.  
  
Three resorts are located in the Fish Lake Basin, offering camping and fishing supplies, RV parks with hookups, cabin and boat rentals, marinas, gas, restaurants, groceries, laundry facilities and showers. The resorts are open from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

## Natural Features

The campground sits on a sagebrush-covered hillside above the valley floor and offers views of the north end of Fish Lake Basin. Aspen trees forest the site, providing limited shade.

Johnson Valley Reservoir is just north of Fish Lake, offering additional fishing and boating opportunities.  
  
The 5-mile Pelican Canyon Trail begins nearby at Bowery Creek Campground. It leads through meadows and dense forests of spruce, pine and aspen as it climbs to the 11,633-foot Fish Lake Hightop.

## Overview

Tasha Equestrian Campground is located in central Utah, just 4 miles north of beautiful Fish Lake at an elevation of 9,000 feet. Visitors enjoy horseback riding and fishing for famous Mackinaw lake trout.

## Recreation

Many miles of horseback riding, hiking, biking and off-road vehicle trails crisscross the area. Johnson Valley Reservoir is just a half-mile from the campground, offering boating, fishing and a boat ramp. 

## Facilities

Tasha Equestrian offers a group site with a picnic shelter, as well as single-family sites. Flush toilets and drinking water are provided. Roads and spurs are gravel, but have good access for trailers and trucks.   
  
The camp is fully equipped for campers with horses. Corrals, a staging area, hitching racks and trailheads are located within the facility.

## Natural Features

Tasha's high mountain setting is beautiful but remote and is prone to rapid weather changes due to its elevation. The site is forested with a mixed stand of aspen, spruce and pines, which provides partial shade. Most sites provide sweeping mountain and valley views.

Fish Lake, Utah's largest natural mountain lake, is less than 10 minutes from the campground. The lake is famous for its 20-40 pound Mackinaw lake trout. Boating, swimming and scuba diving are popular activities on the lake. Boat ramps, rentals, a marina, fuel, groceries, restaurants and fishing and camping supplies can all be found at Fish Lake.   
  
The Mytoge Mountain Trail, a 25-mile hiking/biking loop, offers everything from easy cruising to challenging singletrack in the mountains around Fish Lake.
