Basic camp site with great lake views

Quiet, uncrowded. Situated on the edge of a cliff above Lake Meredith. Picnic tables and a pit toilet are available.

Astounding views

Camped on Memorial Day Weekend, the park is run beautifully. Loved hiking the trails with my dogs. Campsites were nice, stayed at juniper the first night. It had a pavilion on every site, and located next to restrooms. Beautiful view of side of the canyon. I wouldn't recommend staying at Hackberry…

Black Canyon Campground, Santa Fe, NM

Beautiful campground. Sites well spaced with lots of trees separating the sites for privacy. Gorgeous hiking trail loop through the mountainside. Love this campground.

Gorgeous Canyon

Several different campgrounds in the park. Lots of RV spots and many separate sites for tents. They even have a few rustic cabins for rent. Stayed at Hackberry campground. We went last year during COVID and many RV spaces were closed, I don’t know why because they were well spaced. Hackberry…

Trailer Park

Long term living here. It felt like a trailer park. I think they only have 2-3 spaces they actually rent nightly. The playground was closed for repairs. There was a picnic table & a small grass pad in our spot which was nice. Definitely NOT a resort. Just an RV Park.

Fantastic Camping Experience

I camped down in the canyon for 3 days and had a fantastic time. There’s a small store with tiny restaurant and tons of good hiking trails. I easily walked several trails even though I can’t walk far due to a hip disability.

You will find this to be a favorite campground worthy of bringing…

Sagebrush - cramped but beautiful

We visited Palo Duro the week after the Winter Apocalypse and I think because of that, the park was a lot less crowded than usual.  It was our first trip in an RV, so we weren't sure what to expect.  (We normally back country tent-camp and are used to a bit more space.)  We booked Sagebrush site…

Quiet and Beautiful

Some of the other camping areas seemed less spacious and private, but we really liked our site in the tent-only Cactus Campground. It had a shade shelter, a picnic table, and a dirt tent pad. There was also a fire ring with a grill grate, but a burn ban was in place. The water faucet was just…

Awesome

We will be returning to this camp ground. Words can't describe the beauty of this place. Most of the park was closed due to hunting season so we couldn't tour it all, plus didn't have time to. Do we will be returning to this camp and spending a few days.

Hackberry campground review

The scenery is spectacular top notch amazing. Must be seen to be believed. It was cold (being December) and the stars shone so clear and bright.

The sites in Hackberry are difficult for newer people to back into, with narrow roads and angled sites with trees and bollards aplenty. Major…

Must stop heading to Rockies

Absolutely amazing trails and scenery. The summer heat there can be tough and rugged but it is always worth the trip over.

Epic!

Upon entering the park, the descent down into the canyon is an amazing experience. The colors on the canyon walls and panoramic landscapes are breathtaking. The campsite was great! Had a picnic area with a pergola that overlooked the natural beauty. Bathrooms were clean and nice. It was nearly a…
