    Windy Cove Campground (Section A)

    Horrible Camp Host

    We stayed a week in Windy Cove B. The only site available was right next to the camp host. My son and his daughter staying in a tent right next to our rv camper. This happen to be directly in front of the host camp site. My son and his daughter play very loud and rough. The cops showed up at our campsite saying they had a complaint that someone was abusing a child here. They took my granddaughter aside and asked her questions. He asked her if she was hurt. She of course said no. He asked her if she had any broken bones. She of course said no. The only thing we could think of was that my granddaughter pointed (or something) at her dad, and dad told her he was gonna break that finger. DHS has contacted the mother, saying that they need to do an investigation regarding child molestation! WTF! Because granddaughter was heard saying “that hurts”. She says this when dad is winning and she wants him to stop. Then he lets go and she attacks him. And son was heard saying “I’ll go warm it up for you.” And now DHS has to do an investigation. Are you kidding me? It had to have been the camp host! There was no one else around! Needless to say, we will never be staying there again! Which is very sad for us. We have spent many vacations there. My son has grown up camping there. Just so frustrating! And traumatizing to my granddaughter! So now we have to go through this mess to show that there is no abuse going on. I am a survivor of my father molesting me. I KNOW the signs! And she has none! Just traumatizing for us all.

    Threemile Canyon Park

    Convenient stop along I84

    Pulled in around 5pm, only ones in this location. No shade except for camper, but quiet as away from the highway. Nice breeze and view of Columbia. Continue along gravel road, past boat launches and road turns paved with 5-6 flat gravel sites. Free, as far as we can tell, no hookups.

    Bully Creek Reservoir County Park

    Great spot in the middle of nowhere in eastern Oregon

    Very few other choices for campgrounds in this section of eastern Oregon near Vale.  This proved to be a great one-night stop passing through the area.  It was very quiet far from the highway.  Campsites are far enough apart for excellent privacy.  Some sites with partial shade, some very open.  Sites near the reservoir had great views.  Gorgeous sunsets.  Lots of birds in the spring including many nesting killdeer.  Had no problem with wind during my many stays here.  Has wi-fi in the campground which works in most campsites.

    Chukar Park Oregon

    River front sites, quiet, private sites - wonderful

    This campground is off Hwy 20 on a 6-mile gravel road that's fairly well maintained.   Wonderful, private sites, many right on the river.   Lots of trees provide excellent shade and help with privacy.  Never crowded.  Have sometimes stayed here with only 2-3 other campers spread out.  Very quiet.  Great dark sky site with lots of stars visible.

    Sutton Campground

    Quiet Landing Spot

    Mix of first come, first serve. We arrived on a Saturday and there were a handful of spots to choose from; much quieter during the week. Clean facilities and generally quiet campsites. Close to Florence for any needs and lots of hiking and activities in the area. Couldn’t be more satisfied with our stay.

    Paradise In Oregon

    Peaceful and surrounded by so much green!

    Really lovely campground with helpful and kind hosts. Some sites are closer together than others, but lots of trees and greenery help make each site feel relatively private. Public river access is available and some sites have their own river access as well. A few first-come-first-served sites but reserve a site to be sure you can stay here!
