Primitive State Forest CG right on the Boardman River

I like the location; very secluded in the State Forest but only a half hour from downtown Traverse City. This facility meets the recreation need of a diverse cross section of Michigan residents. It’s a great home base or overnight camp for canoeists and kayakers (my particular interest). The camp…

Wonderful stay

Great facility and staff. Country club camping at its best. Motor homes, 5r and Travel Trailers. Beautiful grounds were well maintained. Very dog friendly.

Great Family Fun

Timber Ridge is clean. Great family fun. We stay for a week with the family (5-8 campsites) with this group. Kids have fun. Large campground. Near so many things to do or just stay out here!!

Beautiful lake Campground is filthy

The Lake gets 5 stars, so if you’re going to kayak or boat, you’ll love it. The campground is filthy. Took me 1/2 hour to clean up the trash and cigarette butts before I could set up my tent. I kept smelling a horrible smell, then realized the dumpster was across the road wafting to my campsite,…

Decent campground

There are two sides to this campground. North side and south side. North side has much closer lots and is busier, playground nearby, beach, pavilion. South side has more covered, spacious, private sites. The bathrooms and showers are old and not the best. There is no place for washing dishes and…

Worth a visit.

This is a very pretty and well maintained family oriented State Park Campground that's situated on the southern shores of Lake Otsego. About 10 minutes from Gaylord. The lake has that touristy up north lake vibe. Campground is heavily used Memorial day through Labor day. No issues getting a…

Great experience

Great people running this campground. Very accommodating. Clean campground. Nice camp store. Stayed for a week, very quiet except one night was kind of noisy. Clean bathrooms and showers. Owners make pizza on Fridays and Saturdays - really good!!

Relaxed and cute!

Definitely a campground full of long term, retired RVers, but that being said everyone is very nice and the beach is right there! Downtown is also just a few minute walk away, but it's still quiet. We were only here to stay somewhere for one night real quick, and the bathrooms were clean, the wifi…

Would never visit again

First off we couldn’t park our trailer until a boat trailer was moved from our site. Then there was glass, rusty nails, and trash all over the site so we had to do a quick clean up of site before unpacking. It only got worse as night time came as the campers next to us drank and partied all night…

Needs improvements

First let me start with saying it was ok for what we needed the campground for. We stayed 4 days in total, 3 of the 4 days we were elsewhere. Site 25 was a large site that fit my 36’ TT and my brother-in-laws very large tent on with plenty of room (very deep site). Campground allows for multiple…

About Average

Not very secluded + close to the road. Clean and well kept, and friendly DNR staff. Easy access to the lake, and not far from restaurants and gas stations-hence the road, lol. If you’re after middle-of-nowhere peace and quiet, keep looking. But if clean, comfortable and easy access to town/supplies…

Big rig summer community

If you have a big Class A RV and need a full hook up and a pool, this place will work. We paid $165 a night and were surprised that it was just a gated community for RVs with a pool. Lots of the amenities were broken or not available (hot tub jets broken, no hot water for showers, movie room…
