    Hoffmaster State Park Campground

    July 2026

    July 16-20, site 290 Site is Michigan dirt/sand and not level on the back side. No grass, very dry. Bring a rug. 30 and 20 amp worked fine. Mostly shade with a bit of sun. Green spaces on both sides of site 290. A bit more room compared to the other inner loop sites. The outer loop sites have a bit more space. No ground foliage so you can see your neighbors clearly!

    Steel concrete fire pit. Firewood was $6

    Bathroom/Showers are newer and separate. Hot water, cleaned daily and plenty of room.

    Water fill is at the sanitation dump near the entrance, clean and new. 2 pull through dumps in two different areas.

    Trash dumpsters near the entrance Cellular, T-Mobile 5G 2 bars

    Airport near by with occasional noise. A short walk to the beach area. The beach at the campground was very nice. About 1/2 mile walk from the 200 area. The sand is soft, water was decent and clear. Some dogs were on the beach, but nothing as a nuisance.

    No camp store at this campground, ice and firewood for sale at the gate.

    The entrance to the State Park is down the street and or you can take a short walk to get there.

    Oak Grove Resort

    Great Place to Explore Holland, MI

    Premium sites worth it. Old camp sites are crowded and very tight. Not sure it’s be the same experience.Clean, nice staff, nice camp store, great pool and hot tub, clean and updated bathrooms and showers. Much less crowded and cleaner facilities than state park near by, but more expensive.

    River View Campground & Canoe Livery

    Great Campground, 3rd overall visit, many upgrades!

    This was our overall third visit in the last 4 years to this campground. The last visit was 2 years ago and we had friends visit and do the 6hr tubing ride with us and that ultimately got them into camping and willing to spend the weekend with us at this campground. 

    We've always been in the "rustic" area more towards the "adult/party" side of the campground, but not to scare anyone there was NOT an over abundance of loud music, or shenanigans. Everyone was pretty calmed down by 11-12. 

    Some of the upgrades from years past included shelving, hooks, small benches in the public shower areas (don't have to pay for shower access) water was always warm and the showers were always clean.

    The store contained anything you'd need if you forget something at home, including water shoes for tubing, firewood, ice, etc. 

    We did the 6hr tubing trip, left at 11am and got back to the campground around 4:30. Theres more than enough locations along the tubing trip to stop and eat off to the side. The river is very shallow at some points, id say ankle deep and deep at some points, maybe 8+ ft in spots, but most of the time it was knee deep. 

    The staff is great, they drive around periodically and pick up trash if you leave it in bags along the driving paths, theres a security team at all hours, etc. 

    Cell service isn't the best, however they do offer wifi ($20 for multiple devices/week). The wifi would go in/out at times though

    Overall this is one of my favorite campsites and will return next year.

    Oak Grove Resort & Campground

    Great Location to Explore around Holland, MI

    Great tree covered camp spot. Premium sites definitely with the expense. Not sure we would enjoy the others. Really tight with a lot of long term stats and mini houses. Friendly staff and guest, close to everything the area has to offer. Not the largest campsites and probably limited to the amount that could fit large 5th wheels or 40ft plus coaches. All full hook up and significantly nicer than the two state park campgrounds right down the street. Pool and hot tub clean and very nice.

    We have been coming here as a family for about the last 5 years. It’s beach access, individual and spacious shower house and walkable proximity to the downtown area (restaurants, bars, shops etc.) make it entertaining and fun for all ages.

    Bay City State Park Campground

    Amazing Park Ranger

    This was our first camping trip as a family and our son choked made it a memorable one. He choked on a breadstick, threw it up and had piece stuck in his throat. The park ranger ( female, maybe 5'5 light brown hair, white. Because I cant remember her name) was amazing. She was calm, asked my son questions to help distract him and her overall kindness in her all was great. The rest of the team in there was amazing as well. Next day she stopped by to see how he was doing! I loved that. The camp ground itself it very nice, the bathrooms and showers were really clean. For sure worth the stay!

    This is the State Park area and not the campground. It is about a mile walk between the two. Very nice beach area with miles of shaded trails for hiking.

    Chinook Camping

    Great family Campground!

    Great family campground! Lots of activities: sport courts, foam parties, train rides and a heated pool. Nice Playgrounds and the River trip services were a huge highlight of our trip. We had so much fun and the river was beautiful! Our site was spacious and located right across from the arcade. We found the bathrooms to be outdated but they were overall clean. The park itself is very well maintained with freindly staff. Will definitely recommend and return.

    Beach Campground — Holland State Park

    Great spot for kids!

    Did a father son trip, it was great! The beach site camping is about a 5 minute flat walk to Holland Beach. Very easy! Basketball and volleyball court on beach. Recommend walking out to the pier at Sunset and diving off pier into water (there are built in ladders to get up easily and many people were out there, liferings available too).

    Good ice cream at the beachside ice cream shop. Recommend bringing bikes if you have them.
