Beautiful lake spots

Very cold this time of year on this side of the lake. There are a lot of sites so the busy season might not be as pleasant since we were the only ones here during our stay but if you’re the type that socializes, this place would be great. Plots have some trees but not nearly as wooded and me and…

Good WiFi

Nice stop to get good WiFi. Otherwise, it’s not a very rustic camping experience. Great if you’re into that kind of RV park.

Very pretty lake

Sites are not very private or wooded but the lake access is great and there great amenities including cable tv access at some sites. Bathrooms were closed at our visit tho.

Beautiful forests, quiet

We camped here in October, the last week the National Forest was open. It seemed that we had 10,000 acres to ourselves. Area was spotless!

Great state park for families

Van Riper State Park is a must-visit if you’re traveling through Michigan's Upper Peninsula.  It’s popular year-round, although camping is only open between May and October. Stop for the day to hike the trails and go for a swim, or stay a week and enjoy the sunsets and serenity.

The state park…

  • One of the great views from the hiking trails (of the landscape, not of us. LOL)
  • Site 43 -- a nice end spot in the modern campground.

Great base camp

So in all fairness this was just a overnight stop for us traveling between Petoskey MI and Silver Bay MN.  We arrived late since we had spent the day on Mackinac Island, but the camp host was nice enough to touch base with us while on the road and make sure everything was ready for our arrival. …

  • Nice warm fire on a cold evening
  • Breakfast being served (small cabins available in background)
  • Enjoying a warm breakfast while the snow starts to fall (bathhouse is in the background)

Tiny; but cute!

This could be the smallest campground I’ve seen, 10 sites pretty close together. To be fair it was still very pretty and peaceful. Directly across from Lake George, easy and serene.

Spacious

We stayed here to visit Porcupine Mountain State Park. We enjoyed the park, had some great hikes along water falls and spending time along the shore of Lake Superior.

Check-in was smooth and they offered us several options of sites to pick from. The campground seems to be well maintained and some…

Beautiful beyond belief

The hike in was one of the most beautiful switch back type hikes, with breathtaking views of the gorge on the way down, a quick hike to the top of gorge once you’re down, then look down and see the waterfalls!

Beautiful

This place is breathtaking. Taken care of lake with big camping sites. Only down side is the electric is stationed in the cross of for sites. So bring long extension cord. Clean swimming area along with plenty of wild life. Seen a few bald eagles fishing while there. There is a rental place north…

Quiet campground right by town and ORV trails.

Great little campground. It's small, clean and quiet. You self register for check-in, there's a bathroom building with 3 stalls and two showers(women) and hot water. We purchased an RV site($20) even though we were camping in a tent so our truck and trailer would fit and it comes with water and…

Remote and Pristine

This patch of wilderness within the Ottawa National Forest is unmatched. I didn’t think I was in the Midwest. Remote and not well traveled. I highly recommend heading over to nearby Silver Mountain.

Cramped camp sites, nice lake

This was our last and least favorite campground of our week long MI trip. If the weather had been warmer I think we would have had more fun here because the beach and lakefront is gorgeous, but it was too cold to swim. Campsites in the modern campground are small and very close to one another, plus…
