Cute but noisy

This was a pretty typical state park camping experience. It is right on the highway so there is highway noise. We could see the lake over the highway from our site which was nice. This site was okayed for a 35 ft trailer but we had some challenges positioning our 33ft trailer so beware of that!…

Classic state park

We stay at Fort Wilkins every time we are in copper harbor. The location is great, right on the bike trails and right between lake Fanny Hooe and Lake Superior, which is hard to beat. The camp store has great ice cream and a bunch of essentials if you need something. There is laundry in the east…

l’ance township

Nice camp site to stay at with great view of the bay. We drove to Houghton and took a hike. Restroom and showers not close however. The dump station was so easy since small campground. Very good price.

It has some good points

My review is mixed. Seems well run. Bathrooms are clean and the water is hot. There is a sign that says $5 for a shower if you aren’t a registered camper so that is good if you are just passing through. Sites are typical for a state park. Our site was a little muddy. Lots of activities for kids. My…

Fun lake exploring and neat real crime murder history

Vibe: Mix of retirees and families.

Cleanliness: Above average.

Facilities: Average.

General spots: Varies from right up next to each other to odd shaped spaces that have extra room and trees.

Our site: 40. One of the odd shaped spaces that had extra buffer room and big…

Loved Fanny Hooe Lake. Camp not as nature-y as I like.

All notes are for the West Campground. We didn’t drive through the East Campground.

Vibe: First blush seemed almost residential like, but it was mostly families on extended camping trips that had packed campsites. Friendly but a little rowdy. Teens drinking White Claws, pot smells wafting…

Great tent camping depending on site

Small leveled spot, but we have a huge tent and made it work. Our site was spaced well away from other sites, but some were right on top of each other. Facilities were in good shape and clean enough. Awesome land; lots of pines and rocky terrain. Great swimming beach and boat launch. Reasonably…

Let’s keep this quiet, ok?

Beautiful campground. Private site in the forest. Fine beach just down the road. Sparkling new restrooms and showers. Not overly crowded and very quiet.

A nice beach park, great views.

We stayed in our tents at this site. The sites are reasonably sized and well described on the county website, even details about how level each site is. There seem to be sites available for all sizes. Showers are great ($.25 for 6 minutes) and bathrooms are really clean. Great park for kids,…

East vs West

This is always a beautiful drive to the campground and in the campground too.  We've stayed in the West campground once and East campground twice.  In the East campground there isn't any defined sites and it can be interesting to park larger rigs in the sites.  We have a teardrop so we didn't have…

Great Campsite!

This campground is massive, but not finished yet. It feels as if your camping on someone’s property that they’ve turned into a campground. There were gardens everywhere that were totally fenced off. Everything is first come first served, and all the sites are placed really well, offering a lot of…

Beautiful park on Lake Superior

Many spacious sites. Ours (113) was very sloped. Had to block rear tires and jacks. 50 amp at site. One water fill and dump site in park. We had cell service with Verizon using a truck antenna on top of the RV, otherwise no service at all. We have been told ATT is better in the UP.

Family friendly and crowded

Overall, this is a good option for coming near Marquette, especially if you have a trailer, a family, or are looking to post up for a bit.

Pros: The campsite has a lot of amenities that are easily accessible. Each site has a table, a fire pit, potable water nearby and most have electric hookup.…

Full service but crowded

This campground takes a long time to get to but Copper Harbor is beautiful! It’s remote in one sense but the campground is full service with bathrooms, showers and laundry. There is electric at each site so it is popular with RVs and the sites in the East campground and not private at all. Our kids…

State Park

Newer bath house in center of park. Right off highway, so there is some highway noise. Well kept up park. Nice sites.

We were in 50 amp site. Water and dump station available. Verizon cell service adequate. i
