Worst camping trip ever

This campground is best suited for campers that have no children or pets, people who will spend zero time at their campsite or folks who are in their tent/camper by 9:30 pm.

This campground has zero tolerance for children

Our first impression wasn’t that great. Our site was clearly not…

Love love love!!!

Great campground at 9000’ with trees all around and wonderful view of the valley below. Hosts were great. We easily got our 40’ coach into a very level site. Definitely will be back!

Excessively Harassed By Camp Hosts

If you like to have a nice relaxing time camping… don’t come here! Seriously! If you can… cancel and go literally anywhere else.

  • Do you camp with dogs?
  • Do you camp with Kids?
  • Do you camp with an RV?
  • Do you camp with more than 8 people?
  • Do you camp with a grill?
  • Do you like to NOT be…

Quiet Get-A-Way

Large, non-electric sites with picnic table and fire pit. Most sites are tucked in the trees and well shaded. If shade is important, check the campground map before booking. We went for a nice walk down the forest road towards Weston Pass. Beautiful views.

One of Colorado's best campgrounds in my opinion. It is beautiful and on the beach of Turquoise Lake.

First come first serve, $24/night, $7 for each car after the first two. 20ish sites and they are all under a huge spread out pine glade. Well shaded during the day and keeps it cool as well as…

Lakeside camping with boat ramp and trail access

We stopped at Matchless as we needed a first come site the night before our reservations at Molly Brown. We were a bit skeptical at first as it looks like a large asphalt parking lot. The campsites all surround the parking area so you park on asphalt but are steps away from your wooded site. We…

Gorgeous views but some drawbacks

The valley this campground is in, is flat out gorgeous.  Amazing boulder mountains and tall pines make for stellar views.  Sleeping with the sound of the river was also awesome for the whole family.  But, it isn't perfect (depending on your site).  We reserved site 21 b/c it was right next to the…

Private Sites, Close to Trailhead

I camped two sites back from the trailhead loop. Hiked both days and enjoyed the access and privacy of the sites. Some atv activity along the access road, but not bad really. Clean vault toilet @ Brown Creek TH.

great place to stay the night

This campground was super accessible. It was only 10 minutes from Leadville and the roads were easy to follow. The campsite was fairly full on this saturday 5/29 but there were still probably three or four spots open that evening. We even got one on the water even though we got there pretty late--…

Wonderful campground around lake

Very peaceful location with lake, mountains and stream. Even when full it isn’t overrun. Lake is great for kayaks, SUPs and stocked for fishing. Very popular and fills quickly - a handful of sites are first come first serve. Used cell booster to get decent signal

Great options

There a lot of really good options you can just park your car at. You can also get pretty far up the trail in a standard car. I drove a Subaru Impreza (very slow) and it did great.

There is a nice creek that feeds into the lake at the bottom. There are a lot of sites going along this.

Amazing stay!

What an incredible state park! We drove up at the end of May and witnessed snow on the mountains! The next day the sun chased it away, but it made for some breathtaking scenery! Lots of options for hiking. We did the overloook hike. It was about 5 miles total and a great workout! Lots of wildlife…

This is one of our favorite places to camp in all of CO

Shhh, don’t tell anyone. You are on the river, nestled amongst gorgeous boulders, easy to get in and out of even with a large travel trailer.

The hosts are always extremely friendly and helpful. This one even helped us locate a dump station.
