Beautiful and secluded

I absolutely loved this campground, it was a little closer than the listed 27 miles out of Saguache. There were multiple relatively clean bathrooms. There was a water spigot. The campsites were easy to access and were not too close or too far from eachother. It was absolutely gorgeous but I had no service with AT&T in the camp, except when I got out to Route 114. That’s the only reason I put 4 instead of 5 stars.

Cool and Quiet

This is a wonderful Forest Service campground. At a little over 9,000 feet elevation it cooled off nicely in July. Only a few sites occupied so it was very quiet. Standard Forest Service toilets were clean. No cell service but that was OK with me.

Basic, quiet, clean.

The campground is a set of about three dozen sites in a ponderosa stand. $10 a night. Just off the road with a slight degree of noise from it. The road isn't particularly busy at night so it really isn't an issue.

No AT&T cell service in the campground proper but the hill just beyond the cattleguard in the entrance gets full bars.

The restrooms were acceptably clean and blissfully bug free in late May. I was expecting more people given I stayed here on Friday during Memorial Weekend but only 4 spots were occupied.

The best spots seem to be #7 thru #15.

Beautiful and Quiet Campground

Loved this campground. The sites were well spaced, with few campers the time I was there. My campsite was surrounded by aspen and conifer trees, proving plenty of shade. One of my favorite campgrounds during my trip thru Colorado.

Rugged, simple, and so Colorado

Dirt roads lead to rocky 4-wheel drive required paths. Camping plots were simple with great tree coverage and minimal exposure. Views of valley below abound.

Dispersed camping, solitude

Great place to camp in Colorado to avoid weekend crowds. Wide open, off the beaten path as far as Colorado goes.

A great experience

the campground is very nice. In a thickly forested area it's a great place to see wildlife. On my trip I saw four moose. Definitely recommend

Difficult road and awful mosquitos

Arrived July 7th. Amazing views, great temps, but that drive is pretty tough, good thing babies dont mind bouncing. The mosquitos tho were so bad we wont be returning in the summer months. We made an early trip down to Strawberry Hotsprings. Always so fun! There was even some kind of craft fair going on which was a nice in town treat for momma . Wildflowers this time of year were wonderful, final gate to the top was not yet open.
