    Ramble at Great Sand Dunes National Park

    Glamping- kinda.

    Stayed Friday-Sunday. Wish we stayed longer!

    Such a cute campsite! You’re almost glamping here. Our site had 3 tent pads (5 of us, 4 tents. One tent pad could fit 2 2-4 person tents, the other 2 could fit 1 4-6 person tent each.) and it was very spacious. They’re raked so it’s not bumpy and it’s very even. Electric plugs at every tent pad. Campsite had horseshoe and cornhole.

    Very grateful the little kitchen built in and the sun sails that kept the place shaded. Also has built in solar powered lights. It uses a foot pedal and a 5 gallon water jug that the camp host refills when texted. Had a little welcome bag hand sanitizer and hand lotion and camp stickers. They provide lavender hand soap and dish washing soap. Bring your own sponge.

    The showers and bathrooms are the cleanest i’ve ever seen at a camp site and they smell good.

    The sky at night was next level. Star visibility was insane.

    There is a little store w camp merch, smores kits, drinks, ice cream, etc. -which was very nice and convenient. Ice gets delivered to you when purchased.

    I would recommend bringing head lamps for journeys to the bathroom as the place is very dark and there are little cactus around. And bug spray for the little bugs that bite during the day.

    Overall such a great place for first time campers or big groups. Would come back again.

    Island Acres Section Camping — James M. Robb Colorado River State Park

    Okay Spot

    We stayed Thursday-Monday.

    The trees are sparse and one lake is dried up so no paddle boarding for us. The swimming lake is very low. It reached 100° and being at camp was unbearable due to the lack of trees. The showers/toilets are clean enough. Not the best but it’s manageable and the showers were free. They also have a sink by the bathrooms that is helpful for washing dishes.

    No fire allowed (fire ban) so you’ll need propane to cook your food. Potable water near our site so that was good.

    At night, it’s very noisy. You get the interstate and the train that goes by every 2-3 hours and it’s very loud. Good for a night’s stay but I think we’ll find a different park for longer camping.

    Rangers are friendly and the gas station is less than 2 minutes away if you need ice.

    Best glamping experience in Colorado - on the river + live music

    Top tier glamping resort on the river with an awesome beach and swimming hole, live music on proeprty, grab and go lunch, and the nicest staff I've ever met! 10/10 would come back here. Great place to bring the dogs and kid

    Gold Camp Road/Forest Service Road 376 Dispersed

    Stunning views and lush greenery

    Such a beautiful drive in and quiet, lush spot. The road isn't too bad, some ruts in a few shots due to recent rain but our 24' RV handled it great. Peaceful open meadow spot near the river. We'll be back!

    Amphitheater Campground

    Perfect spot

    We traveled from Silverton into Ouray. And this place had perfect spots for us to set up our rooftop tent. Located just outside of Ouray and in the mountain but still have cell service. The camp host were amazing and went over everything with us since they had had bear in the area. The site we picked was just right across from yesterday and that’s my preference so it was perfect for us. This is first come first serve and cash only

    Hideout Cabins and Campground

    Cute spot

    Seems to be an older campground I was quite surprised when I came in at the twisted windy roads the number of cars there’s quite a few people that seem to maybe live here full-time? The spot was wonderful that is it was quite lovely over in loop D. Do not count on the water, however. There was a faucet by my site however the water is brown probably running low Colorado isn’t in serious drought conditions right now and that may be the problem especially as this is late summer. Your experience may differ but as I said don’t count on it. Electrical hook ups were perfect there’s a bathhouse nearby I haven’t used yet, all I know a solid spot

    Clean and well managed

    We have not been to this park since they remodeled it a few years ago. The paved roads and sit3s are nice and clean. I assume the lack of grass relates to the drought.

    Just say no

    Gravel parking lot next to highway and automobile junk yard. No way to go for a walk or bike ride. Sites are on top of each other, most permanent residents,,,, I left early, couldn't stay thru my reservation

    Meadow Creek Reservoir Fishing Site

    Ok Spot

    As of August 2026 the reservoir is mostly empty.

    Camping spots don't provide much of a view but they're spread out for privacy.

    Road in is flat and gravel - I passed a two door Porsche (you do not need 4x4 in summer).
