Close to trails and Salida

We stayed here early-mid June. There are dispersed sites along silver creek as mentioned in one review, but there are more sites and larger sites if you continue along Marshall Pass Rd beginning about 1/4 mile past the junction to O'Haver Lake. Road is generally easy to pass with 2wd. Tons of…

Family fun!

Just got back from 3 nights at the Stoll Mountain campground. Our 2 kids and 2 dogs had a great time exploring the shoreline and fishing. Facilities were clean, rangers were friendly and helpful. Only complaint were the bugs, but might just be the time of year. Will visit again soon!

Hidden Gem

Chapman Campground is an awesome little place to get away. There's a huge variety of sites that will accommodate almost any camper except for large RVs. The tent sites tend to offer plenty of shade and separation from your neighbor, with water and toilets easily accessible from most locations. The…

Private Sites, Close to Trailhead

I camped two sites back from the trailhead loop. Hiked both days and enjoyed the access and privacy of the sites. Some atv activity along the access road, but not bad really. Clean vault toilet @ Brown Creek TH.

Absolutely beautiful

We stayed the night of Sunday 5/30. We had a wonderful experience staying here. The view was amazing. There were lots of nature trails to take as well. The cow poop added character to these trails :). We also really enjoyed fishing in the river and examining the amazing smooth rocks that were all…

heaven

We stayed here the night of Friday 5/28 and left in the morning. We got there around 4:30pm. A lot of the sites with trees and beautiful views on top of the hill were taken, but we scored this gem that was a bit challenging to get to. A 4 wheel drive vehicle is a must. You follow the rocky dirt…

Great options

There a lot of really good options you can just park your car at. You can also get pretty far up the trail in a standard car. I drove a Subaru Impreza (very slow) and it did great.

There is a nice creek that feeds into the lake at the bottom. There are a lot of sites going along this.

Well names

There was a lot to like here, and a few things I didn’t. The good: Small. Grassy (albeit uncut and loaded with dandelions. Very natural!). Sits on a rushing small river (Cimarron). Fresh pie every day sold in the campground store (it was very good!). Close to BCGNP. The owners own land…

Pristine

This place is beautifully positioned in the trees.  Clean facilities, a wonderful camp host and fellow campers were great.  15 minutes from Buena Vista and 30 to Salida.  Easy access to hiking trails and OHV. I'm headed back the end of the month.

White Star campground is incredible

This campground is stunning. The individual camping areas are nice large spots, so you don’t feel close to you neighbors. Gorgeous views of Mt Elbert and surrounding 14ers. Lake is close for some nice easy fishing. They usually have water available as well as a dump station but they were closed for…

Great dispersed camping

I really liked this spot. It was easy to find and close to the highway.

The road was pretty good but got a bit bumpy as we got closer but still not a problem with our trailer.

I could see a lot of people camping but we just kept driving until we found a nice spot and once we parked, it felt…

Dispersed

Awesome awesome awesome views. I got my Tacoma through the trees without a scratch. There was only one other vehicle there when I was there. Very very cold at night during May so dress warm. There are no bathrooms. Primitive camping only in this part.
