    Kaibab Paiute RV Park

    Peaceful & Quiet, Dark Night Sky

    This was our second visit to this campground. Was only supposed to be an overnight stay on our trip home, but in the morning we decided to stay another day to relax and unwind before going home. We love this campground! It's so peaceful and quiet here, and off the highway so traffic noise is not an issue. We were able to select a site that didn't have neighbors on either side of us. There were plenty of open sites this weekend. The staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and available to answer questions. The amenities allowed for guests are warm and welcoming. Bathrooms and showers are kept clean. A coin operated laundry room is available. There's even an 'honor' pantry that seemed well stocked for all to use. It would be easy to stay here several days at a time. We also visited the nearby Pipe Springs Ntl Monument, and stopped at the gas station/mini mart at the highway. And we drove to the end of the road to see the quaint community of Moccasin. We'll definitely stay here again, and highly recommend this campground.

    Very close to Sedona yet the roads are rough from the get-go

    Very close to Sedona and you get some great sunsets but the roads are a little bit rough even from the outset.

    Bumble Bee Dispersed

    Great for RV Trail Riding, Hiking and Solitude

    This is an isolated location for off road trail riding, horseback riding and boon-docking. There is a small community at the end of the unpaved road named Bubble Bee, AZ, population 11. The main road into the area is gravel but any roads intersecting with the main gravel road are not maintained and many require a high clearance vehicle. Some of the campsites were not left clean by previous campers. We still enjoyed the area. We enjoyed hiking and exploring the desert mountains and river washes. The location was quite

    and peaceful…I enjoyed listening to the variety of birds. Keep in mind that this is a desert landscaping. If you don’t like the view of the first campsite, keep driving until you get to the bridge and there are more campsites farther back. After the bridge, you will see an adorable sign for the local community. We intend to visit the area again…the next time we will take our ATVs so that we can explore more. Be cautious, there are many areas marked as mineral claims and it is illegal to pick up rocks/minerals in an identified claim area.

    Forest Road 535 - East

    Not far from Sedona and right off 89

    Very busy on a Thursday but there are a lot of spots. I would still recommend getting there early because I got there at 5:00 and a ton of people were still going up after me. I only went about a third of the way up. Nice crisp weather for sleeping after hot days in Sedona.

    Flintstones Bedrock City

    Blast from the past and a bird sanctuary

    I acknowledge my bias. I visited this location as a kid sometime between 1979 - 1982. Flintstones was a cartoon I loved and this brought back a memory. Many memories, as this was like some of the older campsites and facilities we used when I was growing up. The facility is older, but it is kept clean. There is a small store and restaurant on site. Prices are very reasonable and they run a bird sanctuary which is where all the Flintstone memorbilia resides. 

    This was, by far, the most reasonably priced location near the Grand Canyon for our one night stay. Many folks staying were working to support the tourist industry, so it was quiet. Inside the park is a very neat re-do of the Flintstones playground I visited as a kid. Many of the structures are present, some for walking through and seeing as almost a museum, and there are new structures with birds of prey who are in need of care. 

    There is electric and water. (We often boondock camp so those amenities are a bonus for us). There are bathrooms. They are older structure, but they are kept very clean. The showers are a real trip - it is the old coin operated shower. They are free to people staying at the park, but they are coin operated so they will give you coins. If you ever saw an old picture of a neon sign at a hotel saying "Hot Showers" - well you'll experience this here. The showers are one temperature - and they feel so good. Even better when you come out into the fresh air - it is the soul cleansing breath of fresh air you didn't know you needed. 

    Staff were amazing and knew many of the locals and regulars and had a good relationship with them, you could tell by the nice and familiar chit chat. It was like a small town where everybody knows every body. 

    This site may not be for everyone. This site is older and modest but the location serves a purpose both preserving some Flintstone history and also doing work to provide sanctuary to raptors and it is nearby to the Grand Canyon, and affordable.

    Garland Prairie Rd Dispersed Camping

    Clean and well maintained

    Traveled here in a 34 foot classy towing a bronco roads are a little rough but we did find a spot. People are generally very kind. It’s a beautiful place.

    Petrified Forest Campground

    Boondocking and primitive road ahead

    We are on a trip and wanted to stop in the petrified forest and also experience a dark sky. We did get there in daylight. The site is lovely, nearby to the Petrified National Forest without feeling like your are close to much of anything. Mother nature had a dust storm to move through so we didn't get to see the stars, but that didn't stop us from having an amazing sunset and a wonderful night's sleep. The road is a bit tricky, but we found it with only one u-turn (a win when I'm in an unfamiliar place, if you ask me) and we would stay here again. The desert scenery is amazing.

    great spot, super close to the park

    We didn’t spend much time here since we got in after dark, but the grounds were nice! Plenty of space to set up a proper tent and it was only 20 minutes from the Grand Canyon visitor center. Would definitely recommend

    Beaver Creek Oasis

    Great safe spot!
