I really enjoyed this campground. Clean and well maintained. Friendly staff and beautiful scenery. Far enough from the highway that it’s not noisy and close enough to get back on your route.

Beautiful

This park is named after the very prominent and unique geologic peak in the area that you can hike up to…difficult and hot hike but very worth it. The campgrounds are large and spread and while there is no cover (aside form on the picnic tables at each site) and it is very open the sites are spread out enough that you don’t feel like you are on top of your campsite neighbor. Thankfully they do provide water here and you can take a nice cold shower to help you survive the brutal heat. There are group sites that were fairly noisy when we drove past them (scouts?). You can’t use generators so it is very quite but if you are in an RV you may be disappointed. The park is halfway between Tucson and Phoenix and next to the big highway so a good place to stay if you are traveling north/south from park to park or what have you. We enjoyed staying two nights and hiking around.

Another amazing AZ state park!

Close to all the action, 45 minutes to Saguaro National park and and Tucson! Really great challenging hike in the park up to Picacho Peak, if you are feeling adventurous. Big clean bathrooms with free hot showers and electricity at the campsites!

Picacho Peak

Campsites, RV's, showers, toilets, and plenty of Az SUN!!!

Zona state parks!

A beautiful park with a challenging hike. Great stop off or home base to see a lot of great arizona attractions like saguaro national park, tombstone and tucson.

nice features

The first think I noticed as we choose our camping spot was the wonderful shade covering (like a small roof called a ramada) over the picnic table at the sites. Most sites seemed quite level. Great feature especially for lunch in the heat of the day. Open camping area- not much seclusion from neighboring campers, but the sites are pretty well spaced out which does give a sense of privacy. Pleased with amenities. Nice hiking trails.
