Located in Mt. Carmel, South Carolina, Hester’s Bottoms is a beautiful campground that sits on the 71,000 acre Strom Thurmond Lake (also known as Clarks Hill Lake). Under new management since March of 2021, the campground offers 39 waterfront RV sites and five waterfront primitive sites. All of the sites include WiFi and the RV sites offer 50-, 30-, and 20-amp services.

Guests are invited to use our private boat launch, boat dock, fish from the banks and enjoy the private beach and playground. We offer three bathhouses, each with private hot showers. Campground activities including fishing, swimming, walking, bike riding, kayaking, picnicking, or just hanging with friends and family and watching the sun set in the water.

If you’re interested in enjoying golf carts, kayaks, paddleboards, and more during your stay, we have a rental program right here in the campground — no need to load up your equipment! Just travel light and enjoy renting our toys while you stay at Hester’s Bottoms.

There's 3 main acres free for camping. No hookups but there are three prong plugs on the outside of the house you're free to use. Also use of facilities inside are perfectly fine: shower, kitchen, toilet, \*laundry\* (ask first). There's a tennis court and a not functioning pool. Cows are always around, behind the fence, and my cat Meeko will likely investigate your set up with love. We're remodeling the inside which is also available for stays. For the ultimate get-away-from-it-all experience, try Hester's Ferry Campground on Clark Hill - J. Strom Thurmond Lake. Escape the hustle and bustle of the city by relaxing in this quiet community, visit the town just a few miles away - and just sit back and enjoy in the 26 shaded campsites on the lake. Located on Fishing Creek, where it joins Thurmond Lake, this is known to be some of the best fishing on the lake. All the sites in Hester's Ferry are on the water. Sites 1-16 are equipped with water and electrical hook-ups (30-amp and a few 50-amp). A separate loop has 10 primitive sites.
