Best Campgrounds near Bluffton, SC

Campgrounds near Bluffton, South Carolina provide a mix of coastal and inland camping experiences within easy reach of popular destinations like Hilton Head Island and Savannah. Lake Jasper RV Park offers full hookup sites adjacent to a scenic lake, while Hilton Head Harbor provides waterfront camping with marina access. The region includes several established campgrounds catering primarily to RVs, with some locations like Hilton Head National RV Resort and River's End Campground also accommodating tent campers and offering cabin rentals.

Access to most campgrounds in the area requires reservations, particularly during peak tourist seasons when Hilton Head beaches attract visitors. Most sites feature level concrete or gravel pads suitable for large RVs, though tent camping options are more limited. The climate remains mild year-round, making this a popular destination even in winter months, though summer brings higher humidity and occasional afternoon thunderstorms. Hurricane season (June through November) can affect camping plans, so weather monitoring is advisable. Cell coverage is generally strong throughout the region due to its proximity to urban areas. According to one visitor, "This is a beautiful campground - clean, friendly, and the lake-side sites are really pretty. The sun sets right over the lake and there's a small walking path part way around the lake too."

Several campgrounds in the Bluffton area feature amenities like swimming pools, fishing access, and proximity to golf courses. Campers report high satisfaction with locations that provide easy access to both natural areas and urban attractions. Skidaway Island State Park, located near Savannah, receives consistent praise for its secluded sites nestled among live oaks draped with Spanish moss. One camper described it as "nestled in a maritime forest, the live oaks and Spanish moss drip and dance around you, lending an air of romance and other-worldly feel." Most campgrounds in the region offer full hookups, clean bathhouses, and laundry facilities. Wildlife viewing opportunities include dolphins, manatees, and various bird species, particularly at waterfront locations and those adjacent to marshlands.

    Fort McAllister State Park Campground

Loved to be immersed in Nature

This turned out to be one of our favorite campgrounds (on a trip between Philadelphia and Savannah). We loved to be immersed in nature and like to discover wildlife. We saw deer, racoon, opossum and armadillo at Fort Mc Allister. Off course there are also lots of bugs and mosquitos that is the downside of this swampy jungle. Campground has nice spots, full hook up available, good shower facilities and not to far to combine with a Savannah visit (very nice town by the way).

    Green Acres RV Camping

    Best Place I’ve Stayed

This was by far the best campground I have ever stayed at. Owner watches out for his land and makes his guests feel very important. I’m a travel therapist and move all over the US every 3 months, and this was the best I’ve stayed. Owner is very understanding and is willing to go above and beyond for his guests!! Some people moved out and left a mess when pulled out, by the end of the day it was all cleaned up. Very clean, couldn’t be happier💜

    Hilton Head National RV Resort

    Stay Here

This is by far the best camp ground I have ever stayed at. Clean and spacious sites. The Bath house and private shower area were 5-star hotel quality. Great dog park very clean with separate areas for large and small pets. The pool, lazy river, Tiki Bar and restaurant area was top quality, providing plenty of lounge chairs, tables/w umbrellas, and free pool floats for the lazy river experience. The are plenty cabana setups throughout the pool complex. They were quite expensive and frankly mostly empty for the week I stayed there.(August). Food was outstanding and consistent throughout our stay. My family highly recommends a stay. We will be back.

    New Green Acres RV Park

    Nice campgrounds

Nice, a bit rustic. Mostly drive through and all very long. FHU, all grass and gravel sites with lots of shade. Has a pool but currently being repaired. Animal friendly, nice dog park.

    CreekFire RV Resort

Overall a good stay, will be back

Campground is super clean and friendly staff. Love having the resort like pool/lazy river/splash pad.

Sites are packed in pretty well, but they do a good job dividing them off from one another so it doesn't feel too cramped. Unfortunately not a lot of shade to be found.

Sites are angled so it makes backing in a breeze! And the concrete pad was almost perfectly level which made setup so quick!

    Spacious Skies Savannah Oaks

    More greed than hospitality

My biggest regret is that I didn't read the reviews before booking. I'm usually very tolerant of small issues and I feel that hospitality goes a long way. Unfortunately, the issues weren't small and the hospitality was non-existent. But when we arrived at Spacious Skies RV park in Savannah we were made to feel unwelcome from the very beginning. We arrived at 11:15 am and were told we could only enter the park after 12:00pm after paying a$10 early check in fee. There were several empty sites but we were refused entry and told to go away and come back after noon. Our site#67 was a very small dirt and gravel spot just steps away from a busy highway. Honestly, we would have been better off at an interstate rest area. This is consistent with some of the reviews I've seen on their own website. Here's a summary of what I found: REVIEWS* Unreasonable refund policies.* Little or no flexibility for early or late check-ins* Some guests refused check-in after 8pm, even in cases out of their control, such as heavy traffic. Don't bother calling, they offer no exceptions.* Excessive fees and rules* Claims of racism* No sleeping in hammocks, even on a freestanding frame* Small, dirty and noisy sites too close to the highway.*Cockroaches*Turned away because RVs were not"factory made"*Dirty facilities. POLICIES AND FEES:* No check-in before noon, or after 8pm.(This is enforced, but not on the agreement you must docusign upon booking)* For an extra fee($10?) you can"lock-in" your chosen site.*$10 fee for guests who may wish to visit.*$10 fee for fishing.*$25 per pet per reservation* Retractable leashes MUST be less than 6 feet in length.* Pets must have a tag on their collar with the owner's phone number.* Golf carts(electric only) must be registered and inspected. Factory made golf carts only.* Prohibited Items: include, but are not limited to, flags, stickers, garden displays or site decor that are political in nature...* Apparently, there are some similar restrictions on speech. But they do encourage"...flags, stickers, garden displays or site decor that are meant to celebrate personal identity in a non-aggressive manner."* When you sign the agreement, you're also agreeing to allow them to use your photo in their advertisements. As long as they can extract as much money from you as possible, they will tolerate your presence. Due to their draconian refund policies, we wound up forfeiting all of the money we paid. In the end I don't regret it. We went about a mile down the road to Creekfire RV park where we were warmly greeted and immediately given a last-minute reservation for a lakeside spot with a wonderful view. I wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy all of their amenities, such a pool with a lazy river and a lakeside restaurant. There's also a KOA in Richmond Hill just a few miles to the south with friendly staff, lakeside sites and several restaurants.

    Lake Jasper RV Park

    No same day reservations

Looks super nice but they say they are open till 8:30 pm. I got there at 8 and nobody was around. Tried to book it online and they don’t do same day reservations. I used their auto chat and it doesn’t understand availability for the day. Called their number and left them my name and phone and didn’t get a call back. We had to leave. Even tho there were lots of spaces open.

    Fort McAllister State Park Campground

Beautiful location and convenient to the city

I spent three night at Fort McAllister in the tent side of the campground. The bath house has 4 private stalls with showers. The tent pads are large and easily held two tents. The sunrise was beautiful over the marsh. When I was here in April the flies were awful but they went away when the sun went down. Haha but that’s when the Raccoons come out to play! Do NOT leave food or trash unattended or they will ransack your campsite.
