Best RV Parks & Resorts near Rock Hill, SC

Several RV parks surround Rock Hill, offering diverse accommodations for motorhome travelers. Crown Cove RV Park in Fort Mill provides full hookup sites with 50-amp electrical service, water, and sewer connections for larger rigs. Ebenezer Park Campground features lakeside pull-through rv pads with electric, water, and sewer hookups, though it may temporarily close for maintenance. McDowell Nature Preserve, located near Lake Wylie, offers RV sites with electric and water hookups in a more natural setting with limited maneuvering space. "Some of the rv sites were in quite a slope. Access to lots of good recreation in the nearby area."

Campgrounds in the region vary significantly in terrain and accessibility. Many RV sites at Kings Mountain State Park require careful leveling due to uneven ground conditions. A visitor noted: "Many camping sites are very much in need of leveling. Sites slope from left to right, front to back, and some slope in both ways." Most parks maintain dump stations and trash collection services, though amenities differ between locations. Reservations are strongly recommended during summer months and fall weekends when Charlotte-area travelers fill the parks. Pet policies generally allow dogs with proper restraints, though some parks enforce strict rules about pet supervision. Cell service remains reliable throughout most areas except in deeper wooded sections of state parks.

Kings Mountain — Kings Mountain State Park

    Overall a Good Experience

Took the new pop-up to Kings Mountain State Park this past weekend and had a great time. The sites are pretty close together, but we still had adequate room to spread out. Each site has water, 30 amp electric, a picnic table, and a fire pit ring. Our site was a pull-through, but the majority of them are back-in. Throughout the campground, AT&T had great cell coverage, but Verizon was non-existent. Our site was a stone's throw from the bath/shower house, which was clean and recently updated. When not in the side, a short walk takes you to the Trading Post, a small store selling firewood ($7), ice, souvenirs, and sundries. Next to that is a large playground connected to a pavilion. A short 2 minute drive (or longer hike if you are feeling ambitious) takes you to the Kings Mountain Military Museum where you can learn of all things historical to Kings Mountain. There's a small model village and numerous other attractions to view while at the park as well. Overall this was a great experience. It's close to home for us, and the price was fantastic ($30 nightly). Let me know if you have any other questions!

    Spacious Skies Peach Haven

    Nice campground, lots of amenities.

Overall, this is a very nice, clean park conveniently located to the interstate I-85) and attractions in the area. It has all the amenities you would expect to find at a KOA such as a swimming pool, playground, dog park, miniature golf, store, clubhouse, and more (including goats). It is by far the nicest private campground in the area that we have stayed at.

This KOA has 127 sites offering varying degrees of services to accommodate RV's, tents, and those wanting to rent cabins. We chose a 50-amp full hook-up back-in site but were upgraded to a pull-thru so we could be in a sunny location to mitigate the chilly air. How nice of them! Our site (#79) was perfectly level as were most others (but not all). Water, electric, and cable hook-ups were well placed at the site and worked fine. We paid $37/night(with the KOA member discount). Nice, large grassy area for dogs to walk and sniff and there is a decent size dog park.  Roads and pads are hard packed gravel with grass in between sites. Some sites are set in a wooded area while some are out in the open with plenty of sun and satellite coverage. The park is big rig friendly and the roads are easily navigable. All sites have a picnic table and some had fire pits but ours did not. Cable is included and offered over 50 channels. Wifi worked well at our site.  The laundry was small with three washers and three dryers but very clean and had a decent book exchange. The bathroom and showers were super clean and looked like they were updated recently.

The campground is extremely clean and the owners/employees are super friendly. There is a short hiking trail (less than a mile) through the woods and plenty of green space in front of some of the pull-thrus. playground large swimming pool with large deck putt putt with lots of goat humor.

The only downside would be the closeness of sites but that is pretty much what you expect from private RV parks. Fortunately, we did not have neighbors right next to us which gave us more space. I'm usually not a KOA fan but have to say this one was great for our overnight stay and we would recommend it.

    Carowinds Camp Wilderness Resort

    convenient to Carowinds, decent campground

Older campground lots of shade.  staff very friendly and helpful. We were really surprised with how much has been invested in Carowinds over the years by Cedar Fair that the campground has been untouched.  Bathrooms/bathhouses were very clean and seem to be the one part of the campground that has been updated.  One section of the campground has been turned into long term camping and many looked like they had been there for years.  campground was quiet other than noise from air traffic as airport is nearby but it was minor.   Campsites have decent space in between each other which is great bc the sites are small in length and you will be parking either beside the rig or sideways in front of it. We stayed in a back-in site and most back-in sites seemed rather level but pull throughs were hit or miss on that aspect.  If you are staying here to go to the park then it is very convenient and has an excellent shuttle that runs frequently and drops you off near the front gate.  Very small camp store that has most of the basics. Campground overall is clean, safe and secure but we expected a little more from theme park campground.  We live nearby and are pass holders at Carowinds so we will likely stay frequently due to the convenience.

    Croft State Park Campground

Shakedown trip with new first camper

Great state park. Easy back in some pull through. Spacious clean sites. Many historic hiking trails easy to mod. Horse trails with stables. Bike trails. Lake Craig is nice fishing with rentable Jon boats, kayaks and SUP. No gas motors or swimming. No pool and dump station only. Playground and clean bathhouses.

    Chester State Park Campground

    Campsites and views, oh my!

First time staying at Chester State Park. Checked in at the Ranger’s station with friendly staff and a small store front with ice available. Picked pull through site 16. All 25 of the sites are on mostly level ground. The lake from the campground has a fairly new access via a ADA compliant walkway with lighting leading to swings, benches and Adirondack chairs surrounding a rock fire pit. There are benches facing the lake for sitting and or fishing and a new deck that provide even better views of the lake. The trails are well marked and wide that run along the lake edge. There is fishing, kayaks and canoes at the boat dock for rent and to our children’s disappointment no swimming in the lake. The other side of the park has the boat dock, playgrounds for the kiddos and plenty of grassy areas and picnic tables for sitting by the lake. Also there is a professional disc golf course on site. Last but not least the bathhouse is up to date, clean and well stocked.

Kings Mountain — Kings Mountain State Park

    Nice quiet state park

This is a very nice state park. The sites are well spaced and wooded. (If you think they are too close together you haven’t been to many private campgrounds). Our site was level and spacious, although some were not as level. Our first site had an awkward incline. The guy at the trading post said they were working on them. We were there mid-week and the campground was very quiet. The only noise was from crows and other birds, and acorns falling in the woods. There is electric (some 50 amp) and water but no sewer. There are 2 dump stations. Several bathrooms/showers are available. There is a nice playground, hiking trails, a lake, canoe rental, and a trading post with some food, ice, camping supplies, firewood and souvenirs. There is also a separate Equestrian campground! The stare park is adjacent to Kings Mountain National Battlefield Park, with Revolutionary War history and more hiking.

    Crown Cove RV Park

    Keep Driving!

Subpar; seems to cater to long term residents. For the 3 pages of rules and regulations I was expecting a pristine campground; what we found was a half paved parking lot and our lot was on a hill side which made using our full hookups going up hill. No fire pit! Must provide ur own, rules state belongings must be 3ft away from away from neighboring sites which is almost impossible with how close sites are. Pass it up! Keep Driving! Would have given less than one star if possible

Guide to Rock Hill

Campgrounds in the Rock Hill area offer diverse experiences for RV travelers beyond the traditional state park system. Family campers at Ebenezer Park Campground have access to beach swimming in Lake Wylie during warmer months, with activities typically starting Memorial Day weekend. Several parks accommodate extended stays, with campgrounds like Crowders Mountain State Park requiring a one-mile hike to tent sites while providing spectacular mountain views from elevations reaching over 1,600 feet.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: Wateree Lake RV Park & Marina provides direct lake access with boat ramps for anglers. "This is a park on the East side of Lake Wateree. Not far off l-77. Has what you need. Full hookups picnic table and a fire pit," notes camper Charles F., who appreciated the strong Wi-Fi signal for planning fishing trips.

Hiking trails: Crowders Mountain State Park Campground offers challenging hikes with significant elevation gain. "A little hard hike but worth the view," says Brittany J., while Alex W. mentions, "Has a great hike, it's not too challenging and good view." The park provides various trail difficulty levels suitable for different hiking abilities.

Holiday activities: Ebenezer Park Campground hosts seasonal events for campers. Ashley W. describes her experience: "We went around Halloween and they had trick-or-treating around the park as well as prizes for the best decorated." These organized activities create community connections among campers.

What campers like

Shaded sites: Many campgrounds offer tree cover for summer heat relief. Larry M. from Ebenezer Park noted, "We where at site 50 and it was completely shaded." This natural shade helps reduce air conditioning needs during hot South Carolina summers.

Accessibility to urban amenities: Most RV parks in the Rock Hill region provide convenient access to shopping and restaurants. "Super close to town to get supplies and dinner," mentions Larry M. about Ebenezer Park, making these locations practical for longer stays.

Lake recreation: Wateree Lake RV Park & Marina offers two distinct camping sections with different atmospheres. "This location has 2 RV lots. Riverside is heavily wooded which provides a ton of shade on the hot summer days. Taylor Creek is newer with less trees providing lots of open space and great for Solar regeneration," explains Chad L.

What you should know

Site leveling challenges: Many campgrounds require significant leveling equipment. Andrew S. at Ebenezer Park observed, "Needed more leveling than I had, and I have a lot," indicating preparation with leveling blocks is essential.

Varied maintenance levels: Bathroom facilities vary significantly between parks. "Bathhouse was clean and well kept," reports Ashley W. about Ebenezer Park, while others note less satisfactory conditions at different locations.

Construction impacts: Several parks undergo periodic improvements affecting amenities. "Park itself has considerable construction going on with no water access. However the campground was open and sites are nice and spacious," Kevin A. mentioned about Elmore RV Park, showing the importance of checking current conditions before arrival.

Tips for camping with families

Beach access considerations: When planning RV camping near Rock Hill, South Carolina with children, check swimming area availability. "Fun beach within easy walk from campsite!" notes Frankie E. about Ebenezer Park, making it convenient for families with young children.

Hiking difficulty assessment: For families with smaller children, carefully evaluate trail difficulty. Lisa L. shares about Crowders Mountain: "We really enjoyed all of the different hikes and the lake as well as the hike to the top of the mountain. The hike to the top was a little strenuous for smaller kids."

Pet policies vary: Crown Cove RV Park enforces strict pet rules. Austin M. notes it as "Pet friendly also," but other reviewers mention significant restrictions, so confirm specific pet requirements before booking.

Tips from RVers

Hookup positioning: Several RV parks have challenging hookup locations. Ebenezer Park campsites sometimes require extra sewer hose length, with one camper noting, "Power connections were so low to the ground had to kneel to see and read breakers."

Long-term stay options: Glenwood Acres RV Park accommodates extended stays but has specific family policies. "Is a decent rv park. No amenities, charge $100 extra dlls for each kid. Kids are not allowed outside," warns Rozina G., indicating this location works better for adults.

Cell service reliability: Most RV parks near Rock Hill maintain reliable internet connections. Wateree Lake RV Park & Marina received praise for "better than average/strong Wi-Fi," which proves valuable for remote workers or those needing to stay connected.
