Quick getaway

We live nearby and decided to go on a whim. Smaller sites but clean and friendly staff. The pond was fun to kayak.

Wonderful little park

We went for a short weekend trip because it’s close to home (30 minutes) This is a great little place to relax and unwind. We had unseasonably warm December weather in the 70°s. The park is better suited for small rigs, although we did see a couple large motor homes that struggled to navigate the narrow road, trees, and tight turns. There are several excellent sites on the lake, which is for fishing or kayaking. The sites are not all level, so pay attention to the description on the park website. We had a site that was nicely level side to side, but pretty sloped front to back. Bath house is typical state park bath house. Things to do: very short hikes (more like walks), fishing, kayaking, playground, history, statues. We love this great little park!

Nice get a way

This quaint campground is convenient to the bustling Charlotte metro area, or just relax for a few days in this small , historic area. Sites are not plentiful or level and it is tight backing in, but the campground is well cared for. Two trails as well. We love this place and will be back.

Nice, small, respectable campground close to Charlotte NC.

Nice, small, respectable campground close to Charlotte NC. Sites are paved, but dont expect completely level. Nice pond and back story as the Park's namesake is the boyhood home of Andrew Jackson (you know, the dude on your $20 bill). Small nice museum, nice walking trail, decent facilities. I would return.

Not on the level.

Like the area and camp ground is fairly clean and maintained. There are only a handful of level sites and luckily I booked one sight unseen.

Quaint

Small park but hosts all the necessitates. Sites are on one tight loop in circling the bathhouse. Very busy on the weekends but quite during the week. Best for compact campers/ rv's, our 35' skoolie made it but barely. Multiple nature trails & a small lake for fishing or kayaking/canoeing.

Quaint Campground

The campground was well cared for, but very small and many of the sites were  very close together. Particularly our lot which was very difficult to level our Popup, even though it was a pull through site.  The sites closer to the water were very pretty and we did enjoy the many fishing spots.

Large historic area- shaded lots

The campground is nice to roam with a wonderful playground. Events are held at an amphitheater by the day use area. Almost all campsites are heavily shaded but navigation with a larger RV would be difficult. Lots of trails but they get swampy after rain. Abundant wildlife including copperheads. Decent fishing for crappie and bass. I used to live a1/4 mile away and it was convenient for friends to visit and escape Charlotte, NC.

Small Park, nice for a weekend

We live nearby and did a shakedown here with our grandsons ages 5 and 8. The camping area has about 20 spots, and some are better than others. Try to get a spot on the outside of the loop, as the spots inside the loop are small and not very private. We were in #9, which was a bit steep at the front end, but not terrible. The bathhouse was immaculate, and the camp host was very attentive. Things to do for kids include fishing, boat rentals, and a playground. Bicycles can be ridden around the campground loop which is very small. There is no swimming at Andrew Jackson.

Nice, Quiet Stay

Lovely little park in a small circle. About 25 campsites with some as full hook-ups. Sites are uneven so make sure you have blocks and not much around the campsite so this is a place to come and just relax. Bathhouse is ok; lake is beautiful for canoe or kayaking; but no swimming.

Small campground with beautiful view

We stayed on site 16 right on the lake. Beautiful views. Our site was very steep, so took a lot to get level, but it was ok. The rangers we're very nice and helpful. Took a walk on the nature trail and it was a nice, short hike and then we looked at the museum and schoolhouse. The only downside is that you could hear the traffic at the campsites. Other than that it was a great spot.

Get away from the city

This is a cool little spot not far from Charlotte NC which doesn't seem as busy as other nearby campgrounds. Staff are friendly. There are cites right next to a lake which is perfect for paddling around in a canoe or kayak just watch out for stumps. Fishing wasn't great when I was there, but it might be better in cooler weather.

Clean, affordable, level.

Smaller campground, very friendly rangers. Nice nature trail around the lake. Single camping loop.

A few sites right on the shore of a small lake. Sewer is not at all sites; only a few in the center of the campground.

I had site 18. Right on the shoreline. Level and shaded.

Andrew Jackson state park in SC

Beautiful campground and park, only 25 campsites so it is quiet and well cared for! Campsite rates are very reasonable and all sites have electric and water and 3 sites also have sewer! Bathrooms and showers are clean and staff are friendly and helpful! We will be returning soon! The park is located approximately 20 miles from Rock Hill and 30 miles from Charlotte so there is plenty to see and do on the days you want to do some sightseeing!
