Meadows campground was closed but the dispersed camping across the road was free and spots available. There were some mosquitos but it was quiet and lots of room between sites where I was
Perfect location if want to hit up winter Park resorts and arapahoe basin, keystone, or breck!! You can take 40 to winter Park in about 50 minutes. And then can take other highway down into silverthorne in 45 min.
Spaces are tight for most part, try to get a end spot if possible. Showers and…
Drove a long ways to find out the gate isn’t open like prior post of members and will not open until June 15 on the steamboat side as posted at gate. We drove to the east side from Walden to find out you can’t even make it to the gate as the road has way too much snow cover yet even with a 4 wheel…
There's fresh Sage plants for miles, the Colorado River runs right by it and is great for fishing, the campgrounds have plenty of parking for boat trailers, RVs, and cars. The restrooms are clean and stocked well with paper, and the view is just amazing to wake up to. Very cheap to camp, too.
Great free spot if you’re looking for somewhere not too far from the town. Awesome bike trails not very far. No bathroom or water it is dispersed. Not too hard of a road to get up either got up in a RWD Tacoma no problem.

Buff pass gate is open and you can mob over it if you have high clearance, 4wd, and definitely winter tires. It gets sketchy at some points, but you have your pick of camp sites.
We had a fantastic time at Steamboat Lake! Our family of 4 (5 year old & 9 year old) enjoyed the location, amenities, and nearby trails. The lake is beautiful and can be busy but the area has a lot to offer within hiking, riding, and short driving distance.

If you like camping, rafting, and fishing, then this is the perfect site! We've gone back year after year and it never disappoints. Each site has a picnic table, a fire pit, and a drive way that can squeeze 2 cars and trailers if they aren't huge. You have to find flat ground to set your tent on,…

We visited this park in the dead of winter and we were the only campers there. There weren’t any services available but the site had excellent views.
This was an amazing site! Even though this is a group campground you wouldn't know it! We chose a great site that was actually 2 tiered! We had a spot for our truck with truck bed tent and then some stairs led to the picnic table, fire ring, and ground tent site. It was an awesome experience to…

Great location and great fishing. Clean campground with good amenities.
There are 4 small US Forest Service campgrounds here. The access road is in great shape and while it is gravel, it is passable with any vehicle and trailer combination.
One of the campgrounds is reservable, the the others are FCFS. We stayed in the equestrian campground. In two of the…
We found Dumont after a ranger at Lake Granby suggested we head to Rabbit Ears Pass after everything near Lake Granby was full. We got there about 11AM on a beautiful Friday and there were several spots still available. We had enough privacy at spot #15. We tend to stay up later than the families…

Steamboat Lake State Park has something for everyone. There are hookup sites and no amenity sites. For the non hookup sites there are water spigots throughout the campground and vault toilets (they were clean but stinky). At the marina loop there is a dump station, coin laundry, flush toilets and…
One of the best campground my family and I have gone to. Tent sites are set back and space and trees separate sites.. 2 great lakes that are stocked (3 kids + 1/2 hr = 12 trout) within walking distance... The chipmunks were alittle intrusive but my dog was fully entertained by them.
