Located alongside the famed **Taylor River** in Gunnison County, CO is the home of our first campground, Campfire Ranch on the Taylor. Our location is outstanding, positioned on County Road 742, down the road from the newly paved Cottonwood Pass, which is just 18 minutes to Crested Butte and 18 minutes to Gunnison. Taylor Canyon is home to some of the most iconic views in the Central Rockies, abundant recreational pursuits and outstanding access to nearby communities. We can’t wait to have you camp with us!

Get ready to camp in rustic comfort at Campfire Ranch on the Taylor. All of our campsites are walk-in and tent-only, which means no RV’s allowed. This saves you from sleeping beside noisy generators, idling vehicles and slamming car doors each night. ## Overview

Lake Irwin Campground is situated on the western banks of its picturesque namesake lake, approximately 9 miles from Crested Butte, Colorado. Visitors enjoy the area for its abundant trail opportunities, fishing and beautiful scenery.

## Recreation

Mountain biking and hiking are popular activities in this challenging, rugged terrain. Canoeing and fishing are favorite pastimes as well. The lake is usually so full of fish, one can see them rise to the calm surface. 

## Facilities

The campground offers several single-family campsites, some of which are accessible. Each site is equipped with a picnic table and campfire ring. Drinking water is provided.

## Natural Features

The campground is set high in the Colorado Rockies at an elevation of 10,200 feet. Summer days are cool and afternoon showers are common. Nights can be chilly.   
  
Lake Irwin borders the campground on the east, and the Ruby Mountain Range lies to the west. Vivid wildflowers fill the landscape during July and August. Most campsites are shaded by mature Englemann spruce and subalpine fir trees.   
  
The Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forests are located on the western slope of the Rocky Mountains. Together, the three forests cover 2.9 million acres in the central and southern Rocky Mountains, south of the Colorado River and west of the Continental Divide.

The charming town of Crested Butte is a short drive from the campground. The former coal mining town offers a variety of outdoor activities, dining and shopping options and annual festivals, like the Crested Butte Wildflower Festival.

If you are ready for a warm, fun season of outdoor activities, water sports and fishing, exploration and hiking, music, dance, community and campfire comradery, you’ve come to the right place. Mesa RV park is re-building community in 2021! If you’ve been here come on back, if you haven’t yet, stop on by! We are happy to be open to all ages, family, musicians, professionals , retirees and you whoever you are. 

We are conveniently located 3 miles west of Gunnison on US Highway 50 and only minutes away from Blue Mesa Reservoir and Curecanti National Recreation Area. Best of all, the Gunnison River is literally within walking distance from the campground. Mesa Campground is a friendly campground ideally situated between Gunnison and Blue Mesa Lake with everything to make your vacation perfect! We offer clean, grassy, neatly landscaped and beautifully shaded sites with full hookup. We have both open and shaded sites depending upon your preference. We offer 30 and 50 amp service, and Luxury sites as well as a number of pull through sites. We are pet friendly, our restrooms and showers are clean and we have a wonderful laundromat. We have two Cabins, two Tipis, free Wifi, communal fire pits and a small playground area. Our club house is well utilized by all our guests for playing cards, dominoes, craft and general activities and we have a Rec-Hall for larger functions such as our popular Potlucks and socials.

The campground is open from April 15th to October 15th and closed during the winter months.

Mesa Campground

Ruedi Reservoir camping is located approximately 14 miles east of Basalt, Colorado, in the White River National Forest, Little Maud Campground is situated on Ruedi Reservoir at an elevation of 7,800 feet. Sites at this campground open up to views of the reservoir and starry nighttime skies. A mixed conifer forest hems in the shoreline and nearby peaks offer an ideal setting for guests seeking recreation and relaxation. Recreation Renowned for its fly fishing, Fryingpan River flows below Ruedi Dam. Here, large rainbow, brown, cutthroat and brook trout are plentiful in an area nicknamed the "toilet bowl." The fish feed on Mysis shrimp, a small freshwater shrimp stocked in the lake. The stretch of river from the dam down to the confluence of Fryingpan and the Roaring Fork River has been designated as Gold Medal Waters by the Colorado Wildlife Commission. Special regulations in this area include fishing only with artificial flies and lures, and releasing all trout except brown trout, with a limit of two fish over 14 inches. For hikers and bikers, the Ruedi Trail, located north of the reservoir, climbs to the top of Red Table Mountain. The trailhead is located 200 feet north of the Jeep trail near the boat ramp and parking lot. This eight mile trail gains over 3,000 feet in elevation, leading hikers to a spectacular panoramic view of the area. Boating, swimming, and water skiing are all possible. Interpretive programs are popular activities. Facilities Little Maud Campground has 21 standard sites suitable for tents, trailers, and RVs. There is a maximum length of 35 feet for RVs. The sites are equipped with picnic tables and campfire rings. Guests also have access to vault toilets and drinking water, but electrical hook-ups are not available. Natural Features In the heart of the Rocky Mountains, the 2.3 million acre White River National Forest is a place of serenity and adventure, boasting eight wilderness areas, four defined seasons, and 10 peaks surpassing 14,000 feet in elevation. Wildlife in the area abounds. Bighorn sheep navigate rocky ridges and bull elk bugle at dusk. Scenic rivers sustain populations of cutthroat, rainbow, and brown trout. Alpine regions provide habitat for pika and ptarmigan. These species, along with many others, depend on surrounding undeveloped wilderness, clean streams, and diverse forests to live. Currently, there are three campgrounds available during the summer season, with two on TBD status. Rocky Mountain campsites open at the end of May and close around late September. The three available campsites are all on a reservation system. Longs Peak, which is still TBD, is the only first-come, first-served camping option. You can RV camp in Rocky Mountain, though there are no RV-specific sites. If you can’t get a spot in the park during peak season, the best camping near Rocky Mountain National Park is in Estes Park, CO, or any US Forest Service land to the east.
