Del Norte City Park

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Managed by the city of Del Norte, this small municipal park sits just off Highway 160 and functions primarily as an overnight stop for RVs and campervans moving through southern Colorado's San Luis Valley. The setup is minimal: roughly five parking spots authorized for a single night, with no fires allowed and charcoal grills only. A railroad line runs about 100 meters from the sites, and a residential road borders the back of the park, so expect some ambient noise from both directions.

The Rio Grande runs alongside the park, and the river gets real use. Reviewers note a surfable wave nearby, and swimming is possible with a life jacket. A river walking trail extends from the park as well. Campers who want to stay longer or need full hookups might look into Woods & River RV Park as an alternative, or browse places to camp near Del Norte for a wider range of options in the area.

The amenities are practical and free. The park provides a dump station and potable water fill for RVs, picnic tables at each spot, trash cans, and restrooms. Verizon signal has been confirmed by multiple visitors. Stacie W. notes the park is "well maintained," and a police patrol was spotted during at least one visit, which some campers find reassuring. For a more remote overnight, Elephant Rocks BLM Dispersed -- Del Norte sits a few miles to the northeast.

Del Norte city park

Quiet, peaceful park, though live music on Thursdays in the summer. About 5 or so gravel parking lots, dump station and water currently under repair so not available at this time. Toilet block open but doors don’t lock. Good for one night

Tent camping

Right in town, not in the best area, but close off the main highway. Looks like a city park with tent camping only, no fires, charcoal grill only. Picnic tables at all the spots. Close to a river where people can surf the wave. Ok to swim in the river with a life jacket.

Good For One Night

The parking lot will hold maybe 5 vans. Nice little park with trash cans. Good Verizon signal.

Free Dump Station, Water Fill, 5 Parking Spots

Short drive off the 160. Signs at this park indicate this as a FREE dump station and water fill station for RVs. 5 spots to park overnight, 1 night stay authorized. About 100m from a railroad line (not sure how active it is). Behind the spots is a residential road then houses. Park is small but well maintained. Nearby River Walking Trail that is beautiful. I saw a cop car patrolling while we were filling up which is always reassuring.

Only One Night Stay Allowed

This is an interesting spot to stay the night. It is right on the river and there are 1-5 sites with a playground, bathrooms, bbq pit, and a dump station. I'm not sure who takes care of this park but they have done a great job!

It is not pet friendly so keep them on a leash and walk them off property.

It is a free site but you can only stay 1 night max. It is not for tents but it will fit RV's and campervans just fine. Maximum RV length is 35 feet.

The best thing about this site is that it is within walking distance of Three Barrel Brewing Company! Excellent beer and a legit pizza oven!
