So amazing - I almost want to give this campground one star and discourage people because it is so amazing, and I'm selfish. For someone who GREATLY values hidden gems where you can get really out and remote, this place is a an absolute heavenly oasis.

Access is from 41 turn on the gravel road…

Charming Family Oriented Park

Van Riper is cozied up on the east end of Lake Michigamme, and the views are absolutely gorgeous. Provides accessibility to a nice bike trail & beautiful hiking trail across the highway. We went on a family camping trip and upon initial arrival, I noticed that the sites at the electrical…

Fayette Historic State Park

Nice campground with electric hook up no water at site. Nice spacious shaded sites with pull throughs available. The historic site is a must see.

Great Park

This park has all level black top parking pads with a side lawn and picnic table. The park is one of our best in the 5 state trip we are on. It has great showers and restrooms. The park sits back in a lush forest out of eye site of casino.

We love this campground!

We love Tourist Park, and will definitely be coming back! It’s on the back side of the city of Gwinn, which is a smaller more run down little town, 18 miles from Marquette. But this little campground is well kempt! Quiet and relaxing, tucked in the woods with a nice hiking trail, picnic tables,…

Rowdy Campground, Unprofessional Management.

The campground itself was kinda trashed + kids toys everywhere. The bathrooms were dirty and “out of order” like feces on the floor dirty. They had live music every night during the summer, which started at 7 and went well past midnight. We stayed for a couple hours before packing up and leaving…

Great Place!

This was such a nice camp ground & wonderful owners!!! We had a birthday party and our site was right across from the nice clean park and a pool that wasn't open yet! But we will be back to enjoy that! We had full hook up and everything was literally a breeze!

Off the beaten path

On the water. Lots of deer and turkeys. Heard wolves at night. It was great!

Decent if you are the only one there...

The sites are quite close, and it is right off the highway.  Not too far from the dam and there are trails everywhere.  Certain times of the year they will have events and it brings out the rowdy crowd.

Excellent Escape!

If you're looking for an off-the-grid escape this is it.  The hike-in/paddle in camping spots are equipped with a picnic table and a firepit, everything else is up to you.  I have been going here yearly for the last 10ys and absolutely love it!  The only downside is the fishing has gone downhill…

Quiet campground right by town and ORV trails.

Great little campground. It's small, clean and quiet. You self register for check-in, there's a bathroom building with 3 stalls and two showers(women) and hot water. We purchased an RV site($20) even though we were camping in a tent so our truck and trailer would fit and it comes with water and…

Camping in the Wild at its best!

This is my absolute favorite place to camp, hike, kayak, fish, and just get away from it all. If you want seclusion, you can find it here with many remote campsites that are only accessible through the water or overland by hiking the trails in the park.

The park has 2 rustic cabins and 2 yurts…

Close to ATV trails

We have stayed here 2x. Atv trails are across the interstate. It’s was a great time! This campground is meticulously taken care of by the owners. first time we stayed here it was quiet during the school season. Mostly adult couples. Second time was summer break and there were a lot of children. I…

Last resort for tent camping. Great showers though

On a last minute camping trip to Michigan, we were looking for places that didn't require reservations, so I felt very lucky and happy to find tent sites available at this campground on a Sunday afternoon. Nearly every spot for RV camping was occupied. Of the eight or so tent sites available, only…

Nicest of the 5 we stayed at

We took a week long trip and toured Michigan. We spent 2 nights at Van Riper, the other campers were nice, the playset was large, and the beach was nice. The beach was steps down to the access (difficult with a wagon- we didn’t know), and the bathroom wasn’t the cleanest during our stay. The stars…
